I can use SwiftKey on quick reply from both the lock screen or a swipe-down from a notification.

Interesting. I only get the default keyboard or Emoji. I have even tried deleting the default keyboard and when I try a quick reply, I only get the Emoji keyboard.

For those having trouble finding SwiftKey Keyboard in the app store:

Search the App Store using the term "Swiftkey" which should bring up SwiftKey Note, tap through and then tap on Developer Apps at the bottom of the app profile.
(Swiftkey Keyboard is listed underneath in Utilities.)

I actually really love apples keyboard... In messages. I absolutely hate the period placement in safari while using the search bar. To this day I hit it with almost every search.

If only there was a way to use the official aplle messages kb in different apps the way you would like.

Even if it is better as a keyboard for safari (imo it is not), it doesn't make any sense to move stuff around depending on the app. The space bar is in a very specific spot. It being loves even slightly makes not sense.

I've tried most of the major ones. I like Minuum because the layout is mostly the same as Apple's keyboard. I just don't know if at this stage of the game its worth it for me to try to relearn a new layout that doesn't really offer tangible benefits. The gestures are cool and stuff but they're wrong more often than they're useful. I don't know.

Minuum and Fleksy are gorgeous though. SwiftKey is ugly.

Fletsky is crashing on my 5s and iPad 4 whenever I try to enable it. It makes the entire keyboard disappear.

Edit

I just read I had to enable full access
Works now

List of Third-Party Keyboards Now Available for iOS 8 Users

There is something strange, because I don't always have the SwiftKey on quick rely. I just recieved an iMessage and I don't have the keyboard now, but if I go to messages and activate the keyboard again, I can use it again on quick reply. It can be an iOS bug, I don't know.

Just trying SwiftKey, it really is very fast! Though I'm not sure if it's worth 'learning' over the default keyboard.

My only gripe is that it automatically adds a space after punctuation. People who've used both, is Swype any better?

Seems like SwiftKey is still very unoptimized. For example when you tap the text field I'm messages, the messages don't slide up like they do with the stock keyboard, sort of annoying because I can't see what the other person said without swiping up.

I didn't even notice that initially. That is terrible. I don't use dictation very often but I at least want the option. That is really unfortunate. Wonder if anyone has any insight on whether Apple is restricting this ability?

Noooo, i love fleksy, but absolutely need dictation. that sucks.

It had support for a hardware (Bluetooth) Dvorak keyboard. It never had an on-screen Dvorak keyboard.

If anyone has found a keyboard replacement that supports Dvorak, please post it in this thread. I know someone who's been waiting for this since iOS 1.

iOS has always had a DVORAK keyboard you can enable in settings.

Edit: Perhaps not, iOS 8 GM at least only has QWERTY, AZERTY and QUERTZ options for UK and US English.

Minuum is buggy on Android

I've used Minuum on Android. It did make my small Galaxy SIII Mini much less cramped. But while I like the concept, it crashed often.

The primary reason I stopped using it was that I used my Galaxy SIII Mini as a remote keyboard (e.g., with Mobile Mouse app). A lot of these third-party keyboards have a tendency to go haywire (on Androids); Auto-corrected text, 'swyped' text, and predictive text never made it out the data stream to the remote computer.

Let's hope :apple: Apple has thought through to make sure that third-party keyboards continue to operate without these bugs.

swiftkey only works if you send them your keystrokes. No thanks!!! And it's asking for Facebook signup.

Deleted the app right away after finding out this. I was wondering why the keyboard didn't pop up!
