"Listen to Siri's More Natural Voice!"

*only 4 seconds of the new voice in the two minute video*
I skipped and jumped through the video but it was always just the guy talking, never Siri.

...yes I'm slightly ashamed to say that I couldn't sit through a ~2 minute video.

Siri usually recognizes my words accurately - it's what Siri does with them that's the problem. Many requests still end up in a web search.

Are you using the beta currently? If you are, are you still being rerouted to searching terms via Safari?

If you've had trouble with Siri across multiple devices, then the common factors are you and possibly your internet connection. Have you considered that? Honest question because I use Siri all the time, and she understands nearly all of my queries correctly.
Funny how you shift blamed Siri's failure to me or my internet connection without properly understanding my comment. It was only late last year when Apple claimed that microphone technology is the reason why Siri is not great. Meanwhile competition is been praised for being realiable and smart assistant. Don't get me wrong Siri is good when it came out but the competition has got better because they invested on it. If you're happy with Siri go on and understands "NEARLY ALL" your queries that's great for you. If it works for you it doesn't mean majority of the users don't have issues, especially in the case of Siri where Apple indirectly claimed the fault but blames the microphone. Honest question have you used Google Assistant? If not then yes Siri is great for you it works just fine and it will get better because Apple is just started acquiring companies and their engineers to work on Siri. But please stop telling people that Siri is great and it works for you. It seems like your attitude reflects the current trend of "if you don't believe my opinion then you're stupid or i hate you" thing. SMH!

Wonder if they'll use this 'new' AI approach to power further localization of Siri. Would be interesting to see a greater depth of accents available.

I haven't had an issue with the pronunciations but it definitely uses different word choices. At one point it had trouble understanding me and I realized that I set to also listen for Australian (instead of just speaking Australian). Once I changed it back to listen for US English, the understanding problems disappeared.

Where is this setting? I find only Language and Siri Voice under Settings/Siri. Is the former "listen?"

i dont use siri on both iPhone or mac book because of:
-privacy concerns
-lower than expected functionality.

i will likely never hear the new voice much, whatever.

I like the new voice. Unfortunately, she has the same intelligence and poor listening skills.

What does that say about Google's and Amazon's intelligence when Siri knows so many more languages? Why does Siri do pretty much as well as Google's Assistant, and better than Alexa in head to head matchups when multiple skills are tested, beyond just Google's admitted strength in answering questions? Just like an assistant in real life, the one you want is not just the one that can verbalize an answer, but to perform a wide variety of tasks. In one of the more recent tests, before Siri's latest round of improvements, here's the conclusion to a test of skills matchup of Siri, Google, Alexa and Cortana.

"All that said, if I had to take one, I'll give Google Assistant the slight edge. I know, I know — there are a lot of embarrassing moments for Google up there. If I were to simply count each "winner" above, Siri would be right there with it. Things are closer than the recent Google hype machine would suggest."

This is the kind of statement that's leads to misconceptions. It's a fact that Siri is getting smarter. Apple demonstrated that. And many people have reported that Siri accurately understands them, including me. There must be some other factors at play that leads people to have a poor experience, not just Siri being at fault.

What I want is to be able to speak American English into Siri, but have it answer me in a British accent.

I like having the male British voice as my assistant, but its voice recognition accuracy goes down unless I also speak in a British accent and use U.K. idioms such as "full stop" instead of "period" at end of a sentence. American Siri understands me just fine, but then I lose that wonderful British lilt in the voice.

Hahaha!

Well I look forward to their machine-learning algorithms to pick up redneck and Cuban accents. The current, "improved", voice may be more realistic, but it's no less dull. :p

Well, to begin with, you can't compare a tiny single mic on a smart phone with a device that has multiple beam forming microphones. That's why Craig F. pointed out that the HomePod can distinguish your voice from across the room even with the music blaring! Next, most people have no idea what Siri can do. They compare all assistants on the same single issue: How does the Assistant do when asked a search question? There, Google has the edge in finding answers to obscure questions. But if you take a wide range of tasks, e.g., reading/sending texts, setting reminders, alarms, playing music, changing phone settings, getting directions, figuring out what song is playing, etc., etc., Siri is better than Google in some areas, and overall just as good.

The voice isn't the problem. The ability to properly understand what I'm saying is the problem. Oddly enough I get better results invoking Siri from my Apple Watch than from the iPhone. Siri is much more accurate when I'm dictating a text message through the watch instead of through the iPhone. Anybody else have a similar experience?

Is that not what you get if you set the Language to English (United States) and set the Siri Voice Accent to British Male.

Give Siri's voice a rest, work on her IQ and her hearing instead. It would be nice if we could have a conversation with Siri to correct her mistakes. She sometimes responds like she on some kind of mind altering drug. Perhaps she could respond, "This is what I heard you say", at least we would have a clue to her off the wall answer.
