I find it annoying and amusing at the same time, that people clamoured for a 3G iPhone and now bitch about battery life as if any other 3G phone doesn't have its battery mashed by 3G.

With the first phone, Jobs pushed the notion that it didn't have 3G because of power issues alone.

This naturally made people think that it wouldn't get 3G, until those issues had been solved.

A hump on a sexy phone is like a hump on a sexy girl.

so you like girls with no butts? isn't that like....illegal? it should be anyways, lol im just kidding I love butts. just not on my phone hahah no extended backs for me

Well thanks folks, you gave me the answer to my problem. I just ordered that SOLO battery that you suggested. I know that it is fugly but if I miss calls from a dead battery, I loose money so yes poor battery performance is important to me. I will let you know how and if the thing works.

Uhh.. which port do you use to charge yours then?

I think the original iPhone had ports on it to charge via Firewire, whereas the iPhone 3G uses only the USB port to charge (they are different pins on the bottom connecter of the iPhone). They have different voltages, so those original pins for the power via Firewire are not used in the new 3G iPhone (or at least don't allow for charging via them).
I can't remember where I read this though. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah the hump looks gross. Not to mention that it would have to be in some sort of case to just hold it on, so it doesn't snap off, which would add to the bulkyness of the phone.

Never had a problem with the humpback MOTO Q9. Just kept going and going. Solved the problem with the SOLO battery. I got a email from the head guy at SOLO customer service and he said that the battery works great with the 3G.

I'm a newbie looking for a backup battery. How does the SOLO battery work? Is it good?

Not happy with the battery life?
Want a phone with an exchangable battery?

It's easy, buy a different phone and move on, this one isn't for you...

so wait... the 3g iphone with built in exchange support that had a whole event detailing how its software has been tailored for the business user, isn't really for the business man?

i love my 3g, more than i anticipated. but i don't think its too much to expect a little more out its battery than many have been getting. this iteration of the iphone has been specifically targeted at the business user. i rely on it every day for my job. i think its unfair to have to tailor my workflow around my cell phone's battery life.

OMG FOR THE LAST TIME

this is one of the best 3g battery's on the market today. the reason other 3G phones (atleast that ive owned) didn't drain as quick is because we don't use the data AS much as we do on the iPhone. I DEFINITELY didn't use data on my E51 (3G phone) as much as i do on my iPhone.dfjhgsdlkjghdaflkjh

not true. i had data going up in the kb, and about 5 mb down, with 1 hour of talk time and 4 hours of "usage" and my battery was completely depleted. sorry, but that's crap. i wouldn't call that high data usage.

luckily they swapped it out for me, but with the caveat that basically what i experienced was normal and that they, the geniuses, are actually pretty upset that the 3g is being marketed with the battery specs on apple's website. they felt it to be pretty much wishful thinking and told me they have been barraged by battery complaints.

If I could just slap another battery in half way thru the day I would be happy. I run a business and need that phone to ring or I dont make a living. I cant be playing around with a phone that wont get me thru the day. Don't get mad folks but my 3G BB Curve never died on me. To a business person a cell phone is his or her life blood and wasting time charging a phone etc. is not making them any money but costing him or her time and money. That my friends is one reason BB has been the king of Business phones.

you probably only brought the phone for the hype... get yourself a different handset, most people who come on here just to moan want a blackberry, so thats a good place to start..get one and spare us the b*tching.

I don't think wanting more battery life is "bitching".

Talking **** to Steve Jobs (who I saw in downtown Palo Alto this weekend btw) won't win you any friends on this forum either.

Personally, I charge my 3g iphone often, too often. I wouldn't mind an alternative hump.

Sometimes, I'm on the road for work, traveling from city to city. In those situations I use my iPhone constantly. Maps, GPS, calls to clients, listening to music, playing games while I wait for a flight.

In that situation, it isn't really feasible or convenient to carry an AC adapter and a car charger, plus remembering to charge them all the time.

I pre ordered the Mophie Juice Pack 3G and should have it in the next few weeks. It doubles the size of the iPhone, but I don't care. The function of my iPhone and the simplicity as well as its amazing capabilities hugely outweighs the style aspect.

I had the first iPhone and had battery issues there too. But the 3G seems to be even worse. I'd rather carry a brick and have my phone work.

The worst part of this thread is the folks who say "stop bitching" or "you bought it for the hype". It's a dudes opinion about his cell phone and that it should have more battery power. He didn't slap your mother or call your ethnicity some disgusting racist term.

I would like more battery power too. Go ahead. HATE ME.

I have never ran into issues with my battery.

BTW I think if you did a quick search you would have found that this dead horse has been beaten for over a year already.
