So another year with a new model focused on the camera...again. At least there is an improvement on the battery. I would gladly trade in the camera for more memory at the same base price but I have no say in that.

Lots of cool stuff...mostly a good presentation.

I was excited the cheapest iPad got updated, only...it’s running the same cpu/GPU as the last gen cheap iPad, from the iPhone 7.

A year and a half later, and it’s the same chip?

More than anything I care simply because Apple at best has supported these things 6 years from release, so this only has 2-3 years of support left, if patterns hold. (Although that’s still better than the 0 minutes of support from Samsung and it’s ilk).

Also disappointing, we’re still stuck with the garbage defective lightning port on everything except the most expensive iPad. I sort of “accept” it on the cheaper iPads solely because they’re recycling cases, but even then, this needed to be phased out by 2013 when it became clear it was defective.

Literally the only reason I’d even consider iOS at this point is wireless charging on the iPhones for when lightning breaks, and usb c on the one iPad. And I LIKE iOS other than the defective port!!

That'd probably be just enough for 6 "Pro" Photos…

Well, my 4k **consumer grade** camcorder uses 64 gig/hour to capture 4k at 30fps. After the OS and basic apps, you can probably fit 15 minutes of 4k@60 video on the 64gig iPhone Pro.

But realistically, the "Pro" Apple probably uses a much, much lower bitrate than my 3 year old consumer grade camera. Nothing says pro like compression artifacts, right Apple?

You mean when Apple used PPC chips in Macs, while Intel was using ridiculously long pipelines in the Pentium 4 range, to increase clock speed rapidly, without actually getting significant performance benefit, and drawing huge amounts of power?

No one said a powerful CPU is not important, anywhere, ever. What many people, including those using e.g. AMD cpus when P4 was doing it's "4GHz or bust" routine said, is that merely increasing the clock speed of the CPU alone doesn't necessarily increase the performance, if the CPU can't actually do a meaningful amount of extra work because of the increased frequency.

But don't let facts and logic get in the way of a good apple bashing.
Increasing the clock speed of the CPU alone doesn't necessarily NOT increase the performance either.

Show's over and not a beep about when the new OS upgrades will become available.
Apparently, not today; unless a miracle happens.
Usually, the GM should come out today.

A GM of what though? 13.0? 13.1? Apple's right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Even iOS 13 has been a complete mess.

If you want to know if your new iPhone will be unlocked, Apple posted this

Here's the really bad thing. Next year is going to be an S year so all of those people stating a big redesign is coming are going to be waiting until 2021. It will be the exact same thing next year with some S upgrades.

Apple hasn't always done S years. The iPhone 6S was followed by the 7, 8 and X before another S model came with the XS and XS Max. Just because they have an iPhone 11 this year doesn't mean they won't have a 12 next year. The whole Pro branding is a bit bizarre though for a phone product. Pro Max is even worse because it sounds like a fabric in clothing designed for sports or a model of an exercise bike.

Just seemed like several TV adverts with some forced enthusiasm & excessive superlatives between them. Go back to underpromising and over-delivering Apple. This is just all so contrived now and the people on stage are all hopeless at sounding natural.
To be honest, you are right on.
Should have came out and said, we have a little bit faster processor and a little bit bigger screen in the iPad, but are keeping it at the same price. Our new iPhones are basic iterations on the previous models.
We are hoping you all will spend some money on our Game Store and AppleTV+ to keep our stock growing. This year it is more important to impress our board than our fanboys. Thanks for coming!

Based on this I'll just grab an XS - my wife asked for my X, if she didn't I wouldn't be getting rid of the X.

Looks like the Apple watch stole the show 2 years in a row.
