Couldn't handle anymore of it. The first Apple event that I turned off before it was finished.

Two analysts (Ed Lee/Dan Ives) on CNBC stated earlier, "Major shot across the bow by Apple in gaming...Netflix for gaming", among other superlatives, they could be right but I'll leave that up to the gaming people here.

Wow, impressively underwhelming.

Nothing new, just apple entering existing subscription markets and branching out into some competitor platforms to facilitate them.

News+ (subscription news)
apple-card (CC version of apple cash/pay, with industry typical terms)
AppleTV+ (subscription TV)

Yawn. They are things, just not things i'll be signing up for.

The comments always prove to be entertaining here. We both know you're not going to stop purchasing iPhones just because Apple released new services lol.

Right?

1)
For goodness sake, is this really a thousand comments of moaning minions? I wish they all actually would stop buying iPhones. Maybe then they'd all leave places like MacRumors and get a grip with themselves.

The only thing Apple had to do to make Apple TV+ a success, is get people interested in their content. I don't buy things just because Apple makes it; I buy it because I care about it. And they got me to care about a couple of pieces of the content, so I'm going to try it and see what I like or don't like.

2)
Furthermore, I was waiting for the political correctness that's always bitched about. Like, on the edge of my seat for it. Didn't see much of it, if any. I'm starting to think you all are just living under rocks and have no mad clue what the human condition is like.

3)
Complaining about subscriptions is moronic at this point. Are you going to cancel your cell phone? Your cable TV? Your Netflix? Your car insurance? Your car lease? Your rent? Some aspect of your life is a subscription and it's probably never bothered you before. If some magazines or shows are what's bothering you, then leave the room so others can read and watch in peace. Go cancel your car insurance and some rent, it sounds like you'll be happier that way.

EDIT 4)
Steve Jobs would have approved of the original content. It was always his vision for Apple hardware to fuel the human condition, creativity, storytelling, etc.

What you all don't seem to realize is that it's not Apple that has lost course, it's … you. Go trash your iPhones if you don't like the company that created them. But get a grip with yourselves. Or don't, I don't care. It shows who you are more than anything.

So, in summary:
  • Apple is aggregating news form various sources, preventing their ads from tracking you, charging a fee and calling it a service.
  • Apple is essentially making their own branded credit card using Goldman Sachs as the issuing bank, but you can only use it where Apple Pay is available, otherwise you are out of luck.
  • Apple is setting up a "first of its kind" gaming service that is available on "all of your devices" that only works on Apple branded products and sounds suspiciously similar to what Google announced a week or so ago, except Google's version works on any device that can run Google Chrome.
  • Apple isn't setting up their own true TV service, instead they are aggregating third party TV streaming services, many of which are massively overpriced anyway and saying you only need to subscribe to what you want. Well with the services they are using, I end up with news and sports content that I don't want to be paying for. I truly want to be able to build my own bundle
  • Then they are adding their own original content as yet another subscription cost.

Hmm, Apple I think you have officially lost it.

Looking forward to seeing how the Apple faithful on here try to spin this pish show.

Theres not really much to spin. Apple needs services to push stock prices higher to appease the all-mighty investors. Hardware isn't going to cut it.

I miss the old Apple too but it is clear where the focus is now.

That said, I'm not subscribing to any of this. I'm slightly interested in Apple Music, but only when I can use it on my Rokus. Considered buying an AppleTV (Hardware), but at 560 days outdated, I was waiting for an update today.. No luck.

Apple TV channels is nothing more than one place to get paid TV channel on-demand subscriptions? There's no live tv channels? Is it all channels for one fee or is it all ala cart?

Yikes, yikes, big y i k e s... Subscriptions all over the place... also LOL at Konami  wth are you thinking Apple? That's not something you should be proud of. People who play video games don't want subscription based services, you dolts...
They may or may not want it. But as history has shown us, they're willing to subscribe to a game season to get all the content. Subscriptions is pretty much how Telltale Games operates. Not to mention how long WOW and FF have been successful and subscription based.
