its official, Apple has become boring and....boring

Here we go again, with apple tailoring its OS for people who don't want to bother to figure out how to use a computer, rather than actually adding functionality for people who want an actual computer instead of an oversized ipod touch. They really should have branded this as OS XI, because it seems like the good old days of OS X are over. No way in hell will I pay for this garbage update.
Not been a Mac user for very long? Apple always announces OS X releases long before they come out, for developers.

There'll be hundreds of new features and optimisations in Lion like there always is, don't worry about it! They're only talking about stuff that will make a significant difference from a usability perspective.
Most of us were asking "what can they add anyway?" as we're happy with SL - it's probably good they aren't drastically changing things. Under the hood optimisations are a given.
