xbjilb in 2008:

My point still stands. Mac Towers USED to be cutting edge technology.

No more. And my WHINING just pulled $10,000+ out of Apple's coffers. With GREAT pleasure.

Whining? Yeah. $10,000+ worth of whining. Which trumps your two cent defense.

xbjilb in 2010:

Now I've got to look for a 12-core PC tower (or better) and Apple just lost $10,000.

Man, looks like Apple will never get his "$10,000." ;)

Wow this keynote sucked! Apple sucks! The MacBook Air is useless as a computer!! Lion - GROWL - weak! I wanted 10-core processors! 512 GB ram! Hey, what is the Facetime ************? Professionals don't want that? Where's my professional computer? Why do they still make iPads? No one uses an iPhone where is the new $15k towers with 100" monitors we were promised?

Why does Steve look so bad? What wit his face? And his outfit will it ever change?

I keep watching these Keynotes and he keeps disappointing me! I am going to send him an email asking him to stop sucking on these media events and he'll probably just type back something dumb like "not yet". I hate Steve! Hate Apple! Someone please tell me, no, MAKE me stop buying Apple products, please! This stinks!!!

Ok, do I win 1st prize now for the being the biggest whiner and complainer of all?

LMAO

Really neat announcements today. Though, I kind of hate how there is no optical drive or hard drive. :/ Apple, please don't let that be the future.

Besides that, I really like iLife '11 and Lion. Some really great stuff, there.

No but you win the biggest douchenozzle award.

What's with everyone bitching about this?

The whole point of the Air is that it is small, lightweight, and thin. That is the reason for the product's existence. If they sacrificed these aspects in favor of more ram and faster processors and better graphics cards, you'd have a Macbook Pro. As far as I can tell, the Macbook Pro line isn't going anywhere. If what you want is raw processing power for video editing or rendering, ****ing buy a Macbook Pro or something. The Air clearly isn't designed for these uses, and likely the technology simply isn't there to make the Air as fast as a Macbook Pro, while maintaining the battery life, weight, and size of the Air at an affordable price.

It really makes no sense. I'm sure the Air has been tested plenty and that it runs with plenty of speed for most tasks.

Wait, really? You mean, Apple sells computers other than the Air? Uh, oh, but I thought...Air is...wait.

So, should I still sell all my current macs out of protest?

I still don't understand people complaining on how they don't like the new Air.

I was waiting for it (not the 11.6") and is going to be GREAT for me to work on Dreamweaver CS5 and NetBeans.

Still don't understand why the Air is as it is? Do you don't understand what the Smart is for? Why people buy it? It has a 600cc engine, unbelivable!

New MacBook Air starts in the UK from £849! In the US 999$??? I have to pay an extra friggin £229!!!! FAIL APPLE

Well some mugg will be like, oohh look it's ONLY £150 more then the top of the range iPad!!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

FAIL on 10.7 too, with the app store...... otherwise it looks ok. In fact a pretty ****** Apple event today....

I just checked the online store and the processor is upgradable to 2.13 ghz and the ram can be upgraded to 4gb.

This means the 4gb of ram complainers can go home now.

I'm disappointed with the new Lion's features. They are not bad but they are cosmetic ones only... I would like to see some hot "under the hood" features like a new filesystem, for instance. OSX needs a better FS than HFS+... :(

Somehow I don't think we even saw a 1/3 of the new features.

There isnt a darn thing preventing apple from putting in a core i3 ULV and 4gb of ram.

C2D is cheaper for them so thats what they use while charging the same price they would be charging you for core i3 and 4GB ram...

Or you know, it could have something to do with the fact that going with a Core i3 means settling for intel integrated graphics, which are much worse than the nVidia 320M... Core i3s have the integrated graphics included as part of the processor itself, eliminating the portion of the motherboard that integrated graphics would have been on. You can't have both on the same motherboard.

4 Gb of RAM are configurable on the new airs.
Just wanted to tell for all the whiners out there.

The App Store will be great. Maybe Mac OS gets a real uninstall ;-)

Damn. The MBA has a higher resolution than the 13" MBP I was wanting. That really sucks. I can't even wait for the next update as I really need it for Christmas. :(

Oh well, I really like the Mac App Store, and the iLife trailers will be helpful when I go on holiday next year with my boyfriend and can't be bothered making full length videos for my friends. :D

Talk about the critics here! Seems that no matter what Apple does lately, too many folks have to bitch about something, and in a major way.

My take:
iLife 11 looks great.
Sneak peak at 10.7 looks good too (it was just a peak - not sure why folks are so pissed about what was shown, including the Mac App store - you don't have to use it, duh).
MBA, well, it looks okay to me. If you want more power, buy a MBP (and get a life).

Please tell me there is A LOT more going into Lion (OS X 10.7) than what they showed, and what they are "previewing" on Apple.com. Also, I'm glad to see they didn't completely ditch iDVD and iWeb, they're still in the package, they just ignored them

no iWork updates.... Man I was just really hoping this Keynote would be the one to tell us they truly haven't forgotten about the Mac, or made it a second class citizen.

Have I seen this before?

Hello Mr. Ubuntu, did you by any chance let anybody called Steve Jobs visit your software labs to check out how you have created the Ubuntu Store? Because I just saw something very similar, just a little more jazzier, with a new name - the Mac App Store!

Now that versiontracker has vanished I for one welcome the our new App Store overlord. (well I know it's integrated to cnet or whatever, but you have to click the Mac tab, which I always forget and start downloading Windows apps accidentally :()

The new MBA is just another choice people can make to meet their own computer needs. Those who want light portability may find this is what works for them. I can't believe all of the emotion pro and con people are pouring into this. I think people wanted/expected some new major quantum leap development. When they felt it didn't happen-out came the negativity. It's just computers and software people.
