Uhh? I'm not a troll you idiot. I'm asking a simple question. I visit and contribute to these forums alot.

Just answer the question

Yes, up until now the green button stood for "resize the window to make the best use of available space". It was up to the app to figure out what that meant. For example, it might make the window just large enough to look at the document or image without the need for scroll bars, or it might make the window tall enough to take up the entire vertical width of the window, and just wide enough to fit the document without the need for horizontal scroll bars.

The problem is that each app developer has a different idea of what "best use of space" means, so it was inconsistent. And pretty much everyone who came in from the Windows world expected it to fill up the entire screen, not "take as much space as you need".

i just tried facetime with myself and it works really well no problems! though i was on the same network (mpb --> iphone 4)

MB Air Port Locations

I find it interesting that the MagSafe and Mini DisplayPort are located on opposite sides of the machine. It's like they don't really want you to hook it up to an external monitor.

Also, the lack of an SD card slot on the 11" makes it a definite "no" (IMO).

Thank you for answering this.

Jumping ship is your prerogative, I'm sure none of us could care less. I'm so sick of ignorant people talking so much crap after one of these keynotes only to turn around and say "Oh man, this is awesome. Lion is the best OS ever!"...

Don't let the door hit you on the way out and buh-bye yourself.

We wish. He's been making these same threats forever. Don't expect any follow-through. He'll have the same tirade after the next keynote too.

Haters gotta hate.

So, I'm a Windows guy...but OS X is just now getting the ability to run application in full screen?:confused:

Of course OS X apps can be full screen. There's never been a limitation there. This is something different, but the details from the live feed aren't clear, so I understand the confusion, an explanation is hopefully forthcoming.

And another and another and another and another for each time they drop it.

And you WILL drop it. Many more times than once.

:apple:

WHY? I've never dropped a laptop/powerbook/macbook/notebook whatever in my life, are you assuming that most portable computer users are clumsy?

It's a nice machine for it's market, no it's not a pro machine, I don't think for a minute they aim it at that market (it's coming up to holiday season remember?) but that's why they have the MBP range, and the Mac Pro towers etc. They are pretty powerful, and combined with the apps and OS they run, they blow many other systems out of the water, even those with on paper better specs in some occasions.

It's called Marketing 101. Historically better for sales than "Hey, check out our new computer. Kinda sucks, not as good as some people think it should be, but maybe you could buy it anyway"

And the marketing makes the business in this case. I'm going into marketing, and Apple is THE place to work if you're interested in B2C marketing and high-tech. I'm more interested in B2B, but a marketing job at Apple wouldn't be something I could say no to easily.

Multitouch in OS X? Check
Engineering to create an iPad inspired Mac? Check

We could be 12-18 months from an Apple tablet running OS X. 3rd gen iPad will be a MacBook Touch?

I'm disappointed with the new Lion's features. They are not bad but they are cosmetic ones only... I would like to see some hot "under the hood" features like a new filesystem, for instance. OSX needs a better FS than HFS+... :(

Only 2GB of ram and a worse processor. All in the name of thinness.

What's with everyone bitching about this?

The whole point of the Air is that it is small, lightweight, and thin. That is the reason for the product's existence. If they sacrificed these aspects in favor of more ram and faster processors and better graphics cards, you'd have a Macbook Pro. As far as I can tell, the Macbook Pro line isn't going anywhere. If what you want is raw processing power for video editing or rendering, ****ing buy a Macbook Pro or something. The Air clearly isn't designed for these uses, and likely the technology simply isn't there to make the Air as fast as a Macbook Pro, while maintaining the battery life, weight, and size of the Air at an affordable price.

It really makes no sense. I'm sure the Air has been tested plenty and that it runs with plenty of speed for most tasks.

Many welcome changes to Mac OS X. Tho the OS X presentation was a bit underwhelming. Only usability features have been introduced which then again was surely cuzz of the consumer-oriented event today anyhow.

I’m sure there will be far more feature announcements coming in the next months. Lion is looking great nonetheless. Very much looking forward.

Now I've got to look for a 12-core PC tower (or better) and Apple just lost $10,000.

Lion? Lipstick on a pig. The iPadification of Mac OS.

Macbook Air? Jobs attempt to make notebooks into a toy as useless and thin as he is.

And of course, his fetish with Blu-ray comes complete with no optical drive whatsoever to deliver content to clients. Useless.

Now we pro content creator users can finally leave. All several million of us.

The era is finally over. The mac, as far as creating pro content, is dead. I'll be divesting my entire company's mac inventory as soon as my current rendering project is finished.

Buh-bye.

:apple:

P.S. What did I expect from Willie Wonka? Sanity. Way too much to ask for.

lol we saw what 5 mins of Lion.

Why would anyone buy a 1.4ghz laptop LOL.
Whats next an 800MHZ?

And if anyone buys a mac book pro now they are nuts knowing the air has a better resolution. That will be the next upgrade to the pro's.

Yeah. Some Android phones will be more powerful than that in a couple months :p

Interesting. There will be a touch screen in the future IMO but what format? iPad seems like the likely vehicle, but you may need more RAM and HD space.

I Hate Steve

Wow this keynote sucked! Apple sucks! The MacBook Air is useless as a computer!! Lion - GROWL - weak! I wanted 10-core processors! 512 GB ram! Hey, what is the Facetime ************? Professionals don't want that? Where's my professional computer? Why do they still make iPads? No one uses an iPhone where is the new $15k towers with 100" monitors we were promised?

Why does Steve look so bad? What wit his face? And his outfit will it ever change?

I keep watching these Keynotes and he keeps disappointing me! I am going to send him an email asking him to stop sucking on these media events and he'll probably just type back something dumb like "not yet". I hate Steve! Hate Apple! Someone please tell me, no, MAKE me stop buying Apple products, please! This stinks!!!

Ok, do I win 1st prize now for the being the biggest whiner and complainer of all?

Ahh! What is that shiny plastic thing with an Apple logo on it? I want one!

(Crap, it will probably cost a little fortune...)

There isnt a darn thing preventing apple from putting in a core i3 ULV and 4gb of ram.

C2D is cheaper for them so thats what they use while charging the same price they would be charging you for core i3 and 4GB ram...

/wonder at people who think Lion sucks, with so little they have showed today.

To be honest, even the limited peak we got today was exciting. I think the whole Launchpad is a great idea. That was one thing missing from OS X, to make access to the apps faster.

There is clearly some idiot posts being made about the CPU here....

To the people biitching about how Steve said net books don't do anything any better and they are slow....

1.6ghz intel atom CPU

Vs

1.4ghz core 2 duo

.....

Are you idiots? The ghz doesn't friggin matter you turds....

The 1.4ghz core 2 duo is enough to do anything on a machine that size along as its not extreme video editing or any sort of 3d rendering.

I used to use my old msi wind net book to make small simple models in max .... While on the bus to uni.... And that was with an intel atom CPU and gma 950

Get over it

I have a feeling that many of the people complaining about the MBA never had any intention of buying one to begin with. They just want to complain.
