No, compared to $265 Galaxy Tab A that includes pen, more DRAM and GPS in the WIFI model.

And the trade off is that the Tab A has a weaker processor, an old version of the OS that isn’t likely to be updated, a worse screen, and likely more lag because of the two GB of RAM.

Don't people at schools make phone calls? And if so, do they usually use cell phones or landlines ?

t#There is no high end small android phone, just cheap crap.

People don’t use smartphones as part of the education process to my knowledge.

The event was pretty much what I expected, but why did they not throw that AirPower into the store along with the other accessories?

I feel like they have some sort of production problem with it, just like they did with the AirPods.

They've been talking about this damned charging mat since last fall.

Over it.

Yeah this really annoyed me. I fully expected no mention at the event, but rather a silent release or simultaneous press release for AirPower and the Qi AirPods case and the products would be on the store online when the store came back up. Obviously these accessories don't warrant a standalone event, but didn't fit the education theme either, so a silent release seemed very likely, especially given the reports.

At this point I think there's about a 0% chance of the store going down again before WWDC in June, so I guess we can plan on a freaking 9 month wait from announcement to release for such a simple product, which is ridiculous. Yes the AirPower will have some power management feature or whatever that makes it unique, but 9 months from working hands on models and announcement to actually releasing the product for purchase? WTF? I'm very annoyed, had every intention of driving to the Apple store after work and grabbing AirPower and the AirPods case.

I know at least a half-dozen people personally that had plans to grab one in store or online today after the event. Why even mention it unless you were about to ship it? I feel like Apple should have said they would not be releasing it until mid-year. If they'd had it early, everyone would've been pleasantly surprised, not annoyed.

We need a petition to replace Tim Cook with Scott Forstall.

Then again why would Scott want to come back to this mess Cook has created. The one that I still can't get over is Cook letting Ive run amok with that 10k+ gold Apple Watch, see how that worked out for them.
Are you a parody of a stereotypical MacRumour poster? Because this was spot on! :D

At $100 for each Apple Pencil, I doubt schools will buy into these educational upgrades by Apple.
Look at all this handwringing. The Logitech crayon is the $49 Apple Pencil for students. If you need pressure sensitivity, there’s $10 off the Pencil for education.

Well, that's a fail.

Nothing but an iPad. No, Apple, the tablet is NEVER going to replace a real computer. It's cute and all, but it's utterly inadequate for anything beyond elementary school.

If that's what you call an education event, you might as well just go ahead and concede the education market to Google and MicroSloth now.

That will not just break the Chrome coalition - but change the world

Does it matter which is worse? Let's replace whatever doesn't work, and isn't giving us our desired outcomes.
Well we're not being given any other options. It would be great to replace everything, but that's not how the world works. Too many schools are invested in textbooks. Too many big companies involved with money and lobbyists. Lobbyists are unable to be made illegal because lobbyists exist. It's a circular reference that won't be broken without a revolt. And as long as most people are regularly fed and sheltered, there won't be a revolt. And even with a revolt, unbridled military firepower far outweighs any civilian capability, which means no real change can occur. We're locked into a system that moves slower than a snail when it comes to implementing changes. And every 4-8 years or so we get new laws that undo or further complicate the laws that came before them. Cold hard truth, and yes, it's quite unfortunate.
