Why is it that literally every single time Apple holds a press event, their stock drops like a rock, even before anything is announced? It's 1:13ET and their stock has dropped $3.00 and they've announced nothing. Amazing.

Because people are scared it may be a flop update...

no bbc iplayer?

Apple dont care about anything other than the US when it comes to the Apple TV. Sad but very true.

Anyone notice that there was no mention of new hardware for the AppleTV, just software? The existing model can do 1080p (xbmc on it handles it fine) so maybe this is just a software refresh...

Buy on the rumor, sell on the news.

Expectations are built in to the market. The stock has risen over the last couple weeks in expectation of an Apple TV and iPad 3, so the announcement of those two products will not raise the stock. If Apple meets expectations/rumors, the stock should remain perfectly still. Usually, it will drop because the rumor crowd overblows it and Apple has a very conservative strategy.

Only way this announcement will raise the stock is a completely unexpected surprise that everyone agrees is extremely positive.

~)~ Seriously? Just 1080P or they left some stuff out about the ATV3?

The stock is trading at roughly $535 a share ... I don't think $3 or about .5% is dropping like a rock.

Likely day traders and hedge funds playing around with the announcement

Is it me, or is Tim actually moving pretty fast through this? Makes me wonder if there's more to today's announcements.
