$249 for the modern buckle.. WTF!?

The biggest blunder here was they did not give the ladies a reasonably priced watch. Us guys can be happy with the sport but there is no way my wife is gonna be interested in any of the sport models or bands on those models. The watch she will want will probably cost more than mine (the $700 SS).

The way I look at it is, Apple had an entire event just to disclose price of the Watch - which was announced 6 months ago, which will be available for Pre-Order after 1 more month, and can get in our hands not before another fortnight from then. Why is Apple trying to create an artificial buzz about their latest category? I guess answer lies within the question.

They are trying to build up demand that isn't there, it's questionable if they will actually succeed or not.

I also expect them to keep the supply artificially low so they get free advertising on the news about the watch selling out at launch.

That's what I'm wondering. When people spend beaucoup bucks on a Rolex or equivalent, they're getting something that can be handed down to the grandchildren's grandchildren. You can expect an Apple Watch to last about 15 years on the high end.

exactly. 5 yrs from now that battery will be dead and it doesn't look like theres anyway to open it up. and i bet the battery isn't replaceable even if it was.

now thats a waste of 10grand. 10grand can get you a few different kinds of rolex's/tags etc.

So if you are app developer and have new macbook, you cant test app on ios device ( it is connected to usb) and charge mac at the same time?

That's a situation in which Apple clearly intends for you to be using Airplay. If you still want to watch movies with your laptop connected to your tv like it's 2005, then a device like the new MBA is clearly not targeted at you.

So using an external 27" Apple display is also not part of its target audience?

I think there will be a solution for charging while using the port, it cant be something that slipped their mind. And I dont think its very "2005".

I don't think you will ever get another original iPhone announcement. It was a revolutionary thing back then, nowadays it's much harder to surprise people that much in a single keynote. And it was Steve doing the presentation.

Also, sometimes people don't understand the significance of the product when they see it for the first time either. The original iPod announcement wasn't as big as it should have been, and iPod was as revolutionary as the iPhone if not more.

I think Tim did well with the iPhone 6/ watch keynote. He's not Jobs, but I think he did a great job. For some reason, today was not impressive, IMO. There was nothing exciting about the watch making me lust after it like the MBA, iPhone 6..............I really expected Apple to hit this out of the park today and it was more like sliding into first base.

Apple offer one on their store (a three-way adaptor with charging, VGA/HDMI and USB). It's expensive but there will probably be third party ones soon.

Thanks, I thought there would be. I'm sure being USB there will be cheaper alternatives soon enough.

I don't think it's about the announcement. It's just about the product. People care about the watch far less than iPhone or the Mac. And the watch is not really impressive to begin with.

But I think the keynote was great, except the portions about the damn watch.

They didn't. $350-399 for the Watch Sport is half of an iPhone. iPhone is also an accessory.

Apple dumped the Professionals years ago. This is main-stream mass produced Apple, and has been for a good 5 years.

I wouldn't say iPhone is an accessory, what other device does it need? You can open it's box and get using straight away without anything else, not even a computer is needed anymore - it serves a purpose only a phone can. You only need the iPhone and it's a standalone product. You need an iPhone to use an iWatch, it's an accessory to the phone and from what has mostly been shown overlaps with the phone in many of it's features - it's only USP is convenience.

Is that worth $350 minimum?

And my pricing was regarding the range, to have a large portion of the range overlap with the iPhone is ridiculous, regardless of the cheaper options.

I dont understand why there is so much confusion here. You will plug an adapter into that one USB port and that adapter will have multiple ports for various things. Also they mentioned it uses 5W so that tells me it will charge via lightning cable.

The Adapter will most likely come with the notebook.

The only real gripe I have about it is they don't offer a 1TB option. I really needed my next notebook to have 1TB

The Macbook Airs, are still quoted as having the same battery life as before, Shouldn't it be much better with the new Broadwell chips?

No, it's "thinner".

As any Air owners and they'll gripe to no end about the onerous thickness of the existing Airs. What they always want is "thinner". If that takes ejecting battery capacity, eject the batteries.

I don't even know why Apple still puts batteries in this stuff. Take them out entirely and they can really "thin" the whole lineup. Of course, nothing will actually work out of the case but we can spin that to hooking up an external battery or battery case (paying extra of course) so we can get whatever battery capacity we want.

;)

+1. I will be more than happy with the black alumininum Sport but none of the Sport models will interest my wife. I was hoping to get her a SS but it's a little out of my price range, especially for a 1st gen product.

I think they have been trying to build demand with the foray into the fashion magazines, etc. I won't be surprised if it sells out on launch to create a sense of urgency to get one. Apple is going all out to convince people they need one of these, but today's presentation did not further that goal, IMO. This product would be a flop for any other company but Apple. They have the brand recognition and loyal fan base to sell a sizable number of these.

Future Apple displays will have that functionality built into them. For other displays there will be this http://store.apple.com/us/product/MJ1K2AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter

and since it's usb-c there will be tons of cheap adapters in no time.

I just don't see Apple's obsession with making all their products thinner & thinner every year. What's the point of the New MacBook? It's thinness in addition to it having no fan to cool the internals is going to mean a disaster for overheating and a fire hazard just waiting to happen. How long can you use it before it overheats & burns your lap? Also, what's the point of having only one port? Not everyone wants to have every device connected wirelessly. If this is the way Apple is going with all of their computer devices in future updates then they are doomed.

No way, 6 years max.

LiIon often are on their last leg by the 3-4 year mark.

This thing is for people who can throw $10k at a disposable item, like we put quarters in a gumball machine.

Not even remotely a fire hazard.

And with only a 5W CPU, not likely to burn laps either.

Nice try and over sensationalizing, you should check CNN for career opportunities.

Carplay/Toyota?

Tim said that all major car manufacturers were on board with Carplay. However, just a couple weeks ago Toyota announced it was NOT supporting Carplay. So isn't Toyota considered a major player? I looked on the Apple site and it still shows Toyota as a supporter. What gives with this???

Their loyal fanbase is a million people or two at the most, not even nearly enough to sell a sizable number of these.

Brand recognition will do the trick.

UK strap prices:

Both sizes are same price, and all straps are £129 except:

Sport £39
Modern Buckles £209 (yes, the clunky chunky ones are 50% more than the milanese loop)
Link Bracelet £379 (I really can't believe this one)

Where is everyone getting these prices?
