I dont understand why there is so much confusion here. You will plug an adapter into that one USB port and that adapter will have multiple ports for various things. Also they mentioned it uses 5W so that tells me it will charge via lightning cable.

The Adapter will most likely come with the notebook.

The only real gripe I have about it is they don't offer a 1TB option. I really needed my next notebook to have 1TB

No, the adapter will not come with the notebook.

I cannot find one for displayport though.

exactly. 5 yrs from now that battery will be dead and it doesn't look like theres anyway to open it up. and i bet the battery isn't replaceable even if it was.

now thats a waste of 10grand. 10grand can get you a few different kinds of rolex's/tags etc.

Even worse, it's not really that good looking of a watch.

You know, I could see people spending $350-$600 for one. While it's far from being the revolution people were hyping it up as when it was still a rumor, it's not a bad little device. It does have its uses, and I could see it ending up being a modest hit in the market. It won't set the world on fire, but it'll sell enough to justify Apple keeping it around.

...but $10,000 for one coated in diamonds or whatever? That'll only sell to people with way too much disposable income, and not enough common sense. It doesn't have the looks or reputation to be considered a prestige item, and it isn't a long term investment. So...why?

I just don't see Apple's obsession with making all their products thinner & thinner every year. What's the point of the New MacBook? It's thinness in addition to it having no fan to cool the internals is going to mean a disaster for overheating and a fire hazard just waiting to happen. How long can you use it before it overheats & burns your lap? Also, what's the point of having only one port? Not everyone wants to have every device connected wirelessly. If this is the way Apple is going with all of their computer devices in future updates then they are doomed.

I think the fanless cooling will be fine with the 5 watt chip. The one port is the main drawback, IMO.

lol, do you work for Fox news?

It says water resistant in the store, but just resistant. Wearing it in the rain is the best you'll get.

Yes, but can it charge mac and output usb signal to ios device at the same time?

Their loyal fanbase is a million people or two at the most, not even nearly enough to sell a sizable number of these.

Brand recognition will do the trick.

It will be interesting to see how this sells over the next year. I am assuming that the internals are not upgradeable since no mention was made of it. I also wonder if this will be updated yearly, every two years? That may have some influence on sales. How soon will it be out of date and too slow?

Who else would have loved to see Tim Cook's heartbeat on a large monitor throughout the entire keynote - and watched what it did when announcing pricing for the Apple Watch.

Me, for one.

"This is what Apple is all about" ???
Really?
In 1984, it was "The Computer For the Rest of Us."
Now, thirty years later, it's apparently "The Gold Watch for the 1% of us."

Agree. I have written before the danger here is degrading the brand form
"aspirational tech" to "bourgeois blech"

just wait for those 10k returns!

Because Bieber needs a third watch.

Did anyone else noticed that the new MacBook's keyboard font is San Francisco?

That's assuming you can replace the battery. 15 years is about the longest you can expect the hardware and/or memory to last.

It will probably be obsolete tech wise in 2-3 years. It will be slow, not able to run latest OS efficiently, etc.

I doubt they will have to update the CPU on this as frequently as the phone. I mean, you won't be playing games with the watch or do other processor intensive things you can do on the phone. So "This is the new FASTER Apple watch" seems pretty pointless. I reckon the software/CPU upgrades on this will resemble the iPod more than the iPhone.

They will add more sensors in the future, but those won't come as frequently as CPU upgrades due to FDA regulations and depending on medical research, which moves slowly compared to silicon research.

While Apple has been largely bullet-proof for a few years now, I really think this is a major misstep. The Apple watch looks and feels like Hubris, and I think it will come back to bite them. And if Tim Cook personally pushed for this, I think it will come back to haunt him. Or if not Tim, whomever was pushing this agenda. And no, I don't think it was in the pipeline while SJ was alive. This nonsense came from someone/some group else. The thinking behind this is just terrible. "We'll invent a product which no-one wants and no-one needs (because, no-one wears a watch anymore except as a fashion accessory, thanks to the smartphone, which we helped invent), and we'll make them want it and we'll sell it for a bunch of money, because we are Apple and we can do anything". I mean, the thinking behind this whole thing is either faulty, at best, or arrogant, at worst.

I can easily imagine a loss of interest in the rather plain boring styling of the Watch especially the "Edition" version.

Those who have millions of disposable cash and make big purchases are looking for statement jewelry and watches. Not some watch so plain it fails to attract admiring glances. It's the celebrities, sports stars and high rollers that have endless resources and are positioned as major influencers for fashion.

The demure rather introverted style of Apple may find they've missed the mark.

You buy the Apple Watch 2 or 3 silly. Are you new here?

Seriously though, I wonder what the compatibility will be with the bands for the next generation main devices and whether you'll be able to buy the main part without the strap and use the old one.

Like with the $1100 black stainless, it would be nice to know if the $600 upsale on the band / colour will transfer to future generations. If so, it's a lot easier to justify the investment in a nice band.

New MacBook..

Really couldn't squeeze ONE thunderbolt port in there? Really? Are the designers at Apple so port/cable-phobic that one USB-C port is all they will give us? Really?

And the updated Air gets Thunderbolt 2?

Trying to explain this nonsense to my customers will be so much fun..

Sigh.
