Only apple can sell shared video memory as "high performance" ....
They did say "It's high performance for shared memory."

They have not announced anything worth discussing yet.
And yet, with nothing to discuss, there were 164 comments before this one.

Free mavericks yes!!
Though I hope this doesn't mean that the Mac becomes marginalized.
Somehow I doubt Apple would be willing to sink any effort to update OS X (especially for free) if they were dumping the product.

Wow, reasonably major update for *free* with a really long update candidacy.
That's the biggie for me. I still have a 2007 iMac, with all the goodies that were available in it at the time. I'm hoping to hold out another few years before upgrading. I figure once I can't upgrade the OS, I'm a year or two from being forced to upgrade. I'm really hoping I can hold out for for a 4K screen on an iMac, or at least higher res than I have (if such a thing ever comes), without having to go Pro - I'm an inbetweenie user and so far the iMac has served me well with amateur photography, video and music production. I would rather not have to pay the extra couple of thousand to go Pro. The reason I hold out hope, is the rMBP's screen has leapfrogged the iMac. The iMac screen used to be better than the MBP's and I'm hoping it will leapfrog back. Time will tell.

"We're doing free in not a small way. Whether you have our latest release or you're a complete laggard and you're still on Snow Leopard, you can update."
WOW
Right? So much for the whiners: "But I don wanna pay $20 every year for an new OS." <stamps feet on ground> "Apple sucks!"

Are you a little bit "slow" in Amsterdam? Windows 8.1 is a free update. Apple is simply copying Microsoft here. You should thank Microsoft.
Windows "8.1." All of Apples X.1, .2, .3 have been free. Always. Forever. Was Windows 8 free?
