You might think it's overpriced but considering it has 4x the market share of all other tablets combined, I'd say it's underpriced.

Well, with that logic Microsoft should charge millions for Windows. (90% market share) Isn't just this what you Apple fans have accused Microsoft for decades?

THey could have atleast put slo-mo on the iPad Air if not on the ipad mini :/ I dont like the iPad part of the announcement. The software part was great. Free Mavericks !!! I have 6 macs. Hell yeah !!

wait why does the 15inch macbook pro no longer have a dedicated gtx card ? the $2500 model does sure but what about the other 1999? what is intel iris and how does that compare...

Sooo...

In the UK.

£319 for a 16GB iPad Mini with Retina.
£329 for a 16GB iPad 2, a 2 year old design and even older internals?

Yeah I can see it's stock falling further because that is frankly disgusting pricing, especially as the iPad Mini last year started from £269! When you look at the competition.... and a 10 pounds price increase to an ipad 2?

Apple are losing their way and should look at that sign with the arrow going all over the place very very closely..

yea seriously... i wonder what it will take to blow people away...

they announced a free OSX update, new cheaper computers, new iPads, new software, record iPhone sales...

True, you cant please everyone, Apple today is the center for criticism... and between us wall street is stupid nowadays. Although the stock went up to the 500's because iPhones are selling well.
This is a "normal" phase now:p

Pre-Apple Event: Expectations high... stock rises.
Post Apple Event: People call doom and gloom, stock falls.
Earnings event: record sales reported. Stock drops.

I don't think Apple stock and image will recover until they really do something different than what's been already done. It seems that people need proof that Apple can innovate beyond what SJ was able to do.

Yet... the new MacPro looks pretty freak'n awesome and innovative to me... sort of "old school" because it's not a shinny new iDevice... but a killer design on a workstation.

Still the same product that's over priced.

For a tablet, 1.46 lb. to 1.0 lb. is huge! When holding one for long periods, such a weight reduction represents a difference of hours in the time before fatigue sets in. It's hard to overstate how incredible the iPad Air's weight is, how great a change it will make in everyday usage. The presentation was a failure in that it didn't communicate this at all. Steve Jobs would have focused on what the weight savings meant for everyday usage, and stated it in revolutionary terms. His RDF would have been irresistable and headlines would have been blaring the low weight as a killer feature.

With Apple's current management, it's just another bullet point. How sad.

I bought a 64GB Mini last weekend to replace one I lost a month ago. I'm tempted to just keep it: new case, perfect screen protector install, and I can go back to Best Buy for a 45 day price match. Otherwise, I have to return it, and wait until some time in November....

I will call the new iPad the iPad 5, because I'm a rebel. The looks of iOS 7 combined with "Air" could cause me to feel like less of a man.... :D

The event was a bit underwhelming for me, and I want my Mavericks upgrade NOW!!!!!!!! Where is it??? If I keep hitting refresh, I'll need a new key. :D

EDIT: The original Mini is 16GB only now, so no price match on my 64GB Mini!

I rolled my eyes when Cook said:

Sure, the apps that are made for the iPad. OTOH, my wife's elementary school just started using iPads and of all things, their first app choice was a free iPhone app to show stories to the kids.

Yikes.

As we all know, those have to be pixel-doubled to even fill half the screen, and then it looks just plain bad.

Sorry, Tim, but I'd take a nicely stretched out Android phone app any day of the week over that goofy pixel-doubling.

I could see myself getting a mini but probably will just make do with my iPhone 4 until next year.

If I can just change the horizontal and vertical page margins on Pages for mac, iOS and iCloud I will call this a good presentation..

for me the highlights being OSX Free and Garage Band....neither meaning much to me right now.

Me too, the Pro is very innovative, BUT, investors don't give a crap about it because it won't make them money, the rest of the range, particularly the iPads do.
So when your investment means a 2 year old product selling for a premium price, a price increase on a product already at a high premium, and a rename, it isn't going to give you much confidence in the company.

I never believed in the iPad Mini, because of it's specs, now they get the specs right but whack a large price increase on it! So it still makes no sense. Kudos to those who will buy one though. Investors will look at it's competitors and the rest of the market and they may think moving their money elsewhere is a better idea?

I noticed that as well, $600 just so I can get nVidia. Apple lost me there.

$399 for a retina iPad with good specs? It will sell like crazy. So will the full size. I bought a first gen Mini because I wanted the reduction in weight. Now that the iPad Air is so light, I'll probably hand down the Mini to my gf and pick up an iPad Air.

What do you suggest for that size with a similar screen resolution? I'll be getting a new tablet soon, but haven't explored all the non-Apple options yet.

So your wife and her school bought ipads but choose to run iphone software on it. The iphone software looks bad, well of course b/c it was designed for a phone. But you blame apple? And you prefer a tablet that only has phone software available. Weird.

Wow, if I'm reading their website right, you HAVE to upgrade to the top-spec Retina 15 to get discrete graphics now? That's ridiculous
