Apple Pay integration with Square is really smart and something that I always thought made sense. Puts more pressure on the bigger retailers as well and people will ask for it more.

Hmm...all this proactive stuff is on device, not in the cloud.
Their "privacy" slide implicitly implied that your data is indeed sent to the cloud. Searching through information already on the device doesn't require that (e.g. adding an event to your calendar automatically), but actions such as checking for traffic will technically send your information (in this case, your destination and location) to whatever mapping software they're using.

doing this by remote control is far easier than ever :)

Although i like the sound of that too

As a dev, Metal for Mac is genius. It's the first thing in a while that really really leverages Apple's unique situation.

The problem with low-level APIs like Metal is that they have to be ultra-tailored to the hardware. It just doesn't work. NVidia and ATi have been trying to create low level APIs, but then you have the problem where games have to basically be built twice for each GPU and using an Intel GPU gives you terrible performance.

Apple can do it because they control the whole stack. They can make sure that Metal supports every GPU they ship. This is the same advantage game console makers have, and the reason that game consoles get way higher performance for the same hardware.

Apple's using their limited hardware set to push their hardware much further. It's exactly what they need to leverage their position and differentiate themselves from Windows 8 which is catching up on a lot of classic OS X advancements.

aye it would have to in some respect, also to share the information with your other ios/mac devices

I wonder how long before we see it at the fuel pump.
