Apple pushing Swift to be open source only because of Microsoft's massive push this year to open up C# and .Net and do more cross platform development. While I can see C# becoming a dominant language, Swift will only ever be used to support iOS platform, I can't imagine X Code being used to ever write apps for competitive platforms.

So? You think Apple shouldn't do multitasking just because someone else has already done it on another device? Or whats your point?

The point is of course that features like this are mostly ridiculed - not only here, but also in the press - every single time a non-Apple manufacturer launches them. Keywords: "No one needs that", "Stupid feature", "I am glad Apple focuses on the important stuff" and so on.

Yet, when Apple launches near identical features somewhere down the line the same crowd that hated it when they first saw it on a non-Apple platform suddenly thinks it is an excellent idea.

his voice is so monotone and always goes dooooooown, at the eeeeeeeend of a pooooooooint he tries to get acrooooooss

He just sounds so rehearshed and its always the same vocal melody over and over again.

Guys I love apple but come on... They copied Google now and their cards style multitasking. But one thing I like is battery and quality so I'm sticking with apple.

Think we may all have the same Bank...o_O

Lots of banks are on board which is great. I have accounts with RBS, Bank of Scotland, Nationwide and TSB. Did not think that they would all be supporting from launch!

Bit strange about Barclays. Barclaycard US supports Apple Pay.

Was interesting to see Lidl on there but not the likes of Sainsbury's or Tesco... And they wonder why people head to the discounter stores nowadays!

I bank with Lloyds and Santander... They usually offer me cash back by shopping at Waitrose so I can use Apple Pay and use the incentive scheme.

Sainsbury's are supporting Zapp - another mobile payment method. Don't know about Tesco. Some of their stores have contactless terminals and some don't. Some of the stores with contactless terminals have contactless enabled and others don't! Was Morrisons on the list? They have rolled out contactless.

Didn't Apple say that they want to solidify iOS from now on? First we complained about it being all buggy and when they try hard to fix the bugs, everyone complains again. Can't please everyone. Too bad.
I'm happy that they are solidifying the OS and not just adding more and more features! One of the main reason why I came back to Apple after having a Samsung. You want features go get another phone.

Xcode != Swift

There is already another IDE which supports Swift - JetBrains AppCode. I bet Eclipse will support Swift soon too.

if i hear Tim Cook keeps saying "Thank you" one more time, i'm going to scream, i swear..
