Who cares. Technology on the wrist is in its infancy. Comparing the 1st gen Watch to the 7th generation of iPhone is silly.

Come on mate, put the basics together. A lot easier to sell an accessory to a huge established device v starting with version one of a device. It's not that hard to comprehend.

apple in 2015 has a huge war chest to market the Apple watch. Your comparison to a 2001 iPod that saved the company is silly!
