I originally switched from Pandora to iTunes Radio, and then bought the iTunes Match subscription to get it ad-free. Pricing was fair and it functioned nicely as a music discovery service, with the benefit over Pandora being that I could tell Siri to add a song to my wishlist while I was driving, I could easily jump into the iTunes Music section, and I could use my keyboard controls for the music. Yet a few months in, the "stations" would randomly stop playing, forcing me to manually restart them. It got so bad that at some points a single song would play and then I'd have to restart it. I let my subscription expire and returned to Pandora.
The highlighted features of Apple Music don't appeal to me. While they probably have some features that I'd be interested in, the pricing is also unappealing. They may be matching Spotify's rates, but it's about twice as expensive as Pandora's monthly rate. And compared to iTunes Match of $25 per year, $9.99 a month ($120 per year) is a whole lot more.
Even though it won't entice me to buy in, Apple is trying to change some of the culture behind how we perceive music. That's interesting in itself. We'll see how it's received, and where it goes from here.
