iTunes looks fugly. It does not look like a system native Cocoa app at all, far from it. The white album list background and horrible Tiger-style polish looks a lot worse.

Makes NO sense to me. Why would I want to buy a new iPod Touch to replace my 16gb? I think apple's christmas business will suffer from people NOT replacing their current Touch.

Apple, I am underwhelmed... I you care to know...

And what about the people who don't have a Touch? Please stop acting like MR are Apple's only customers. Today's rollout is probably big for non-geeks who don't even have an iPod and were considering one. Stop complaining, PLEASE.:p

Heeeeyyyy, dit anyone notice the absence of social stuff in iTunes 9? I could have done without facebook integration etc. But a LastFM thingy would have been cool. On the other hand, LastFM is in some ways a bit like Genius.

So far as I can tell, you can click the arrow in the iTunes store and share a link to a song or whatever through Facebook and Twitter. Some will like that, I have no use. I would like to show what song I am listening to and stuff tho. Very, Very limited integration.

I don't know why it took Apple sooooo long to finally add FM to the Nano. It should have been added in the first iPod.

Oh, well. I finally got what I wanted. :D

It's not a major leap forward but it is at least in that direction, I quite like it, especially the ability to have full screen in the iTunes store.

So for the 3.1 update for the ipod touch, does that cost $4.95 even if you already have 3.0? Or is the $4.95 only for people upgrading from 2.x?

Why bother spend the $$$$$$ for such a non-event?

As it has already been mentioned...I bet they had planned to show cameras on the iTouches as well, but they had last-minute glitches with them reportedly.

I think Jobs is as pissed as we are...except we don't have the power to fire a dozen iPod developers and then park in a handicapped parking space.

You're kidding, right? It's being reported all over the press. What other company can get that kind of publicity for new (ok, slightly updated, whatever) tech toys?

It is only disappointing because you bought in to every single rumor out there. If you were to have watched the coverage without knowing anything, you would think there were some cool announcements.

I am confused though. The last keynote and the one before that, and so on, were supposed to be the worst announcements ever. I guess it is par for course for post-Apple event days on here.

People were speculating about what the new touch would/should have waaay before this recent round of rumors. Lots of people assumed that a new touch would get some of the iPhone 3G features - GPS and camera most notably. I've got a 1G 16gb touch that I would have upgraded from for GPS and/or camera (plus all the 2G features like speakers) but not really interested now. I'll wait for the next update to get the 3GS "guts" plus (hopefully) those 3G features like GPS and camera.

Also, did they charge touch users for the 2.1 upgrade, or was that free for 2.0 users? I can't remember. Either way they need to start accounting for touch sales like they do for AppleTV's. This paying for every software update is getting ooooold.

Press for Apple is a good thing. Steve Jobs being back is big and will likely boost stock prices to day with him just being up there.

iTunes 9 is cool. Nano and Shuffle updates are cool. But the only thing I was waiting for is...wait for it...New iPod Touch. And...yeah that's all I have to say about that.

Processor boost? A touch shinier? 64GB? Come on Apple, you've got to do better than that. I was at least hoping for a camera... I had the decision between a Zune HD and a new iPod touch to replace my aging 5G 30GB iPod, but alas... it seems like my business is going to other way... :(
