The whiners have a right to whine about one thing, and that's the Touch. But in my opinion this music was a hell of a lot better than last year's. The new nano looks amazing, almost as if they took all their engineers to work on the nano and realized at the last second "gee, we need to do something new to the touch, don't we?" I'm guessing that this iteration of the Touch will be short-lived, and in January we'll see a video camera update. If they wait until next September, that would just be epic fail.

And iTunes 9? Awesome. App organization + an easy way to sync music between macs, hell yes. My 2 most wanted features. Thank you, Apple. I suppose 64-bit cocoaness can wait.

What did iTunes 8 bring us? Gee, I can't even remember. Oh, yeah. Genius playlists, and that stupid black album view I never use.

Anybody know if they mentioned if you've bought an album that now has an "LP" if you can get it for free/cheap? I'm guessing not.

Fail 1: Integrating a camera in a nano. Only way to sync it is via a WIRED CONNECTION to itunes. As opposed to it being integrated in the touch. Which is wi-fi capabilities and much higher storage capacities for videos.
Iphone has a camera, I'm sure so could the touch without much difficulties since it's pretty much the same platform.

Fail 2: Doesn't seem like the Nano can do pictures, only videos.

Fail 3: Touch only dropped $29 on the low end, 16GB model is gone and pricing is way off. it goes from 8GB to 32GB in one price step. Seems off and non-apple like to me. My guess would have been something like $199 for 16GB, 299 for 32gb and 399 for 64GB while dropping the low 8gb model altogether as they did with the 3G.

Auto Fail 4: Anything and Everything that has to do with Beats by Dre is Auto Fail. Thanks Apple for this auto fail.

Onlything that maybe the highlight (for me atleast as an owner of 3GS is the 3.1, but lack of more info really sucked. They only introduced genius, what about some of the CORE upgrades? Could have spent a couple minutes on this (even though I realize it was a ipod/itunes event.

and last, the Final Fail.................. none of the stuff that was introduced needed this huge keynote event. Thus the higher expections from a bigger event.

That's all I'm saying.

I just saw a little bit of news of what's going to be released but I do like the Nano's getting a radio. That's a big plus for me. I've been using my Nokia phone when listening to my favorite sports radio station. An then using my older Nano to listen to music. This will be so much nicer having one unit when working out. :D

Is your favorite sports radio station an AM or an FM station? If it's an AM station, you're SOL.

Not to sound like a troll or every other complaining n00b, but I really was hoping for an increase in the touch capacity without still having to pay iphone prices. how is it that even 160g classics still cost over $200?
I love my classic ipod and want to upgrade with something more than my 30g but the price points are out of control for anything over a few gigs. 160g ipod should be at most $199, even that's a stretch with the pice of hard drives now.As for the touch. You can't just up the capacity and not add any other features and then price it at smartphone prices.

The iPhone doesn't cost $300, it costs $600. The reason why they're sold for $300 is because they have a $80+ plan attached to it, for 2 years.

Could it be that they were just so psyched at the fact they could secure a location for 9.9.09 that they decided to hold an event at all costs?

wow, there certainly were a lot of people who were "going to go buy an ipod touch today". please, give me a break folks. Yeah, it's disappointing that a camera didnt find its way onto the Touch (I'm putting my money on the technical issues argument and not the differentiation argument), but seriously, you are going to not buy one now just for not having a crappy *** 3.2 MP camera? The camera on-board the iphone is much overrated to begin with. Digital photo wont look good until they put at least a 6MP sensor on board. So don't get your panties in a twist over no camera.

I didn't even care about the camera. I would've easily jumped on the Touch if it had AT LEAST upgraded the entry level model to match the iPhone 3GS' processor/speeds and they didn't even do that. I don't need a 32GB iPod (don't have/need that much music) so basically my only choice is to pay $200 for an outdated iPod.

Didn't catch much of it live but it doesn't look like I missed much. New iTunes, new Nanos, and whatever else.

No big updates for me. I'll just upgrade iTunes and my iPhone.

So, next rumor, October event, introducing the new iPod Touch with video camera, filling the gaps of the $249 and $349 price points. Who's with me?

WTF? The Touch has no update at all?
Everyone thought the Touch will have a camera while the Nano MIGHT dip in and get one too because of that. Now it's vice versa.
