was thinking about that...
If there weren't rumors of the iphone and verizon how many people would turn out for this? My guess about half...

People keep saying this, but I don't think it's as universal as you think. IMHO, VZW is horrible. I never had good service with them, their CS was bad, and they did all sorts of dirty tricks to cripple their phones. The only way I would switch away from AT&T at this point is if VZW could soundly beat my current rate (which BTW is already a super discounted family plan, so unlikely).

Remember that AT&T came out awhile back and said that most of their customers are on some sort of discounted plan. VZW will have to beat those plans and not the listed plans in order to move a significant amount of people.

I'm on at&t, i'd like to know where my discount plan is? I can barely pay my iphone bill some months...

I think the site will go mental either way. Lots of "I told you so" from those that think it will or think it wont happen. 😀

God I'm bored with this. You guys in the US have been going on about this for so long....

At last the US will have a second network.

Over here in the UK we are up to 5 networks now, and they all charge much the same price.

Don't expect it to be cheaper.

Now I suppose we'll have dozens of posts about how expensive it is to break AT&Ts contract.

We've been there, done that.
 
Curious that the Apple store and the Apple iPhone pages are still up. That just probably means that the Verizon iPhone won't be released today.

If it's announced today, I'm guessing we'll see it available Friday? Any longer of a delay and they risk cannibalizing their existing sales.
 
Finally an end to all these boring, seemingly endless Verizon iPhone stories on this site. Just release it so the majority of us can all get back to not caring.

Are you in school? Who do you work for? FAN codes exist for many people. The CEO also didn't say everyone, but that a majority were on some sort of discounted plan. Given that everyone I know who has AT&T is on a discounted plan either through their job or school I don't think the the CEO was lying.

Instead of hundreds of threads about when Verizon will be getting the iPhone, now there were be hundreds of threads about how much Verizon sucks.

The cycle continues...
 
It would sure be funny if no iphone was announced.... lol not that it matters to me (we have 3 official carriers [and their sub-companies] in Canada) but those in the US do deserve at least some carrier choice.

...and hopefully a rational majority majority with a "meh" reaction whatever the topic or outcome of today's event. 😎
 
I'm watching the APPL stock price which started creeping up as the Verizon event started - I would expect it to leap up the second they confirm this is about the iPhone (or drop like a stone if the opposite happens!)
