Seems rather odd, about seven hours since the end of the keynote and Apple still hasn't posted the replay video of the event. All of the replay links and apps just say the following:

"Video replay of today’s event will be available shortly."

Seven hours (or more) to edit/process a video? It's currently after 10PM EDT, soon it will be the day following the keynote!

The only explanation I can think of other than pure incompetence is that they want to delay the release so that attendees feel as it their money was well spent. But, since they never have enough space available for everyone who wants to attend (they use a lottery to determine who can buy tickets) that doesn't make complete sense.

Also, having Apple's main website with a full-page splash announcing "Watch the Keynote" that then leads to what is essentially a non-functional link is kind of bad.

Yes, been waiting forever over here too. It’s not on the Apple TV, and I can’t watch it from a browser, not even from the WWDC app.... Come on Apple... get it together.

About the $1000 stand for the new display. Yes, that's expensive but when I looked at the description I notice that it has integrated height and rotation support (portrait/landscape, although the height adjustment is only 120mm and with a tilt of -5 to +25 degrees). Furthermore, the mechanisms look very compact and it probably isn't easy (or cheap) to carry that amount of weight while still providing a very stable and smooth operation. It also uses a magnetic latch to mount/dismount the display.

Definitely over engineered, but it's not like this is just any plastic or metal-stamped stand.

Also, I suspect they know that not many people will buy the stand, maybe several hundred units per year, which means it's almost a custom piece. I'd think that most people will use the optional VESA mount.

The reason why Phil Schiller didn't show: His previous endorsement (intro) of the "failed" 2013 Mac Pro. I can still remember the time that Steve Jobs had to correct Phil on stage when Phil gave the wrong clock speed (too low) for a then new Mac.

The reason why Eddie Cue didn't show: The millions (billions?) of dollars that Apple wasted on the purchase of Beats audio.

Just kidding, about both (although the mistake about the clock speed is true).

I can see myself buying an used mac pro when my Mac Mini gives out, hopefully more than 10 years from now.

Completely relieved that buying the display is now out of the question, mostly because of the price but also because of it's design. The design of the display looks like a "classic" Apple product which I think is cool, but I wouldn't want that thing on my desk honestly.

The price is utterly ridiculous .... but I suppose its mainly for professionals, I assume.

There simply should have been an alternative/cheaper/simpler alternative. And no thats not the VESA mount ofc.
Saying that people can buy it without or are not interested in the stand doens't mean the cost doesn't matter.

They've got the iMac Pro for that, which starts at $4500 with the monitor (which is still a great monitor btw). And to be fair, Apple has never been considered an affordable option since the beginning. The PC market was and still is, happy to fill that space.

Wrong, Apple Pro used to be affordable. Back in my college day, I see many Mac Pro use in the lab. Now when I visit my old college, I see only iMac, no Mac Pro use.

Yeah and the base 2012 Mac Pro cheese grater wasn't anywhere near that in 2016 $$. $2499 in 2012. I notice you conveniently left that one out.

2012 base Mac Pro $2499. That doesn't adjust to $5999.

Base Mac Pro in 2012 basically served the same customers as can be served by iMac Pro now. This machine is for a smaller niche of pros than the Mac Pro had to cover in 2012. It is sad it is that expensive. But a Mac Mini with external GPU gets you pretty far if modular desktop is what you want. And the iMac Pro gets you lots of power in a small package.

Best Keynote for many many years.
iPad finally got some love. Just miss you can have multiple users and I would be more happy.

MacPro is a beast and I wish I was heavy duty pro-user so I could justify it. Entry model with only 256 GB SSD is however a joke. Likely I would start of with a third party display.

I also enjoyed audience reaction for "stand-gate"

Thank you Apple for a great keynote

It depends on how many cities will have street view. If it's just NYC, SF, LA, and a few more, then no. If they get into smaller cities (let's say between 100K and 500K citizens) then yes.
I feel like they’ve been mapping for so many years that they should, at least in the US.
