While I agree it would be nice to have, problem is it would eat up battery/resources every time the screen lights up. I am sure they can enable that feature via software at some point and add an option to enable/disable it but it's only available via 3D touch right now.
I know this was from a bit a ago, but with how fast touch ID works you only get to see it move for like .2 seconds unless the very rare time it doesn't read our greasy fingers and you get to watch it as you try again.

I had the touch wallpaper "live" gimmick on for about two days until I figured "why have a still photo that I have to spend longer on my phone to watch cycle through a cool looking smoke cloud or whatever". then I changed it to one of my personal photos.

live wallpapers should be moving on everytime you activate your screen... who is going to tap the screen just to see it moving? why? it is childish, ridiculous and stupid. when using these new features, i cant be thinking about my android phone four years ago when some features were only gimmicks...

if i had to press the screen to see it moving, i could also launch an app that shows a moving image on the screen...

Idk what I did but now none of the live wallpapers will work on my lock screen. I really want the fish to work but it won't. And where do I find to turn the 3D Touch sensitivity down?
Thanks guys.

Nvm figured both of them out.

I must normally press hard then, I tried setting mine to light and it was way to easy to activate 3D touch.
I set mine to light, and the left side is awesome right side is hit or miss!?! anyone else have this issue?

What a totally useless feature. Why can't this feature work without having to press the screen?

I'm pretty sure this feature was thought of by the same folks that came up with Ping.

Absolutely useless.

It was never supposed to be automatic. Look at the announcement again. They were very clear about how it works.

Not to mention people whine and cry about the battery life now. Can you imagine if they had animated wallpapers going all time?

Do you watch your homescreen/lockscreen much, staring it several minutes, hours? It will consume a battery only when it is activated.. Anyway, now it is useless feature - but it is so apple...

I'm genuinely shocked how incompetently Apple handled this feature. I mean, seriously, if we have to hold down on it what's the point? We'd like to see it move whenever we wake the phone, not have to go out of our way to press down on the screen before unlocking. If we didn't want to see it move on its own.. Get this... We'd use a static wallpaper!

Maybe if you value a cute gimmick over battery life. I'd rather not waste my battery on it so I have it for things that are useful instead of just cute.

I don't think battery life is a concern whatsoever. Only have it move on its own during the lock screen, on the home screen make it 3D Touch to move (if it even moves on home screen, idk).

It would absolutely affect battery life. I'm puzzled as to how you think it wouldn't.

Ugh, that's really dumb. What an animationgate.

Lol Don't be such a drama queen. It's hardly that big. I never even saw any complaints about it beyond this thread.

Seems kind of silly that you can even assign it to homescreen then, no?

It's not silly at all. The point of a live photo is that it's animated AND a still photo. If you couldn't set Live Photos as home screen wallpaper at all, you'd really be unhappy. Plus, how often would anyone be wanting to animate them anyway? They're behind apps. You can do it in the photos app and see it unobstructed. Let's be honest here....Live Photos are great and there's some purpose to having them, but having them animate as wallpaper is more of a toy or gimmick that no one cared about that much after a couple of days from getting their phone. It's cute, but not useful. I never even bother except to entertain the kids for a few seconds.

I would like to see the live wallpaper being live without pressing the screen. It s only live when screen is activated - for example the lock screen will be activated for couple of seconds. If you still want to save your battery, then quess which one consumes more: the live wallpaper behind and the screen is on for couple of seconds when checking the screen or that user is activating the screen and then pressing the screen, screen is on for few seconds..

How ever, as if im going to push the screen...

What comes to live wallpaper, how about "Let the user decide." which the user want - rather than having a quite useless feature which is only causing instability. For example i installed some nice live photos from appstore and trying to put them as a wallpaper, settings app crashed on everytime you were selecting one of those photos.

Reserection of an old thread....Anyone figure out a way to make the wallpaper animate automatically!

They dont. Only those few dynamic bubbles... of course if you jb, but that is another story.

Better question is has anyone figured out how to make old thread disappear.
