Been waiting all day for my iPhone. Nothing. Then suddenly my tracking changed to "delivery attempt made". Bull! My doorbell never rang. So I called UPS. Got transferred SEVEN times. No one wanted to help (yes I was polite). The last rep was extremely nasty. Called me a liar, stupid, and was very condescending. So no iPhone for me because of a lazy driver. First world problems absolutely. I'm just angry at the treatment I received and the fact I have been here all day! I took the day off for nothing and now I have to take another on Monday.

By the way, I was told they are ignoring all waivers on file so no packages will be left and according to them Sprint is refusing to let packages be picked up at the hub. That adds to my frustration because my hub is 10 minutes down the street!

Happens all the time at UPS and FedEX. Their ready made excuse for launch day volume. I had it happen on a Mac Book Pro last year, which I had to track down to their hub. Walked in, and no one in the office. No one around for a half hour until I walked around the building and found someone on a smoke break.

About as shoddy an operation as one could find in the free world.

Might have to pull the security cam tapes on the next one and see what happens.

I've heard of UPS pulling this crap all the time. Don't you know standard UPS protocol?

Would it have been an option to use UPS My Choice and pre-sign for the item? Or is that what you mean by they are ignoring all waivers on file?

Yep, I have UPS My Choice and that's what I did. Rep said they are ignoring all that and not leaving any phones.

Wow...I'd be royally pissed. Why are they ignoring pre-release authorizations? Just because it's an in-demand item? People get way higher value things shipped to them so I don't see the value of the phones having anything to do with it.

So the pretty much expect people to sit at home all day, off work, and on top of that apparently watch the front door as their delivery guys can't even knock? Or who knows if he even showed up. What a joke. I'm mad just typing this/reading your post, really sorry dude.

Something in the story does not make sense and you are leaving some stuff out.
I have had UPS refuse to leave something at the door but they always, 100% left a note that a delivery attempt was made (sometimes multiple times that day).
So, if they left you no note, they didn't attempt delivery, them leaving it at the door is not the real issue.

If they did leave you a note, well then, your story doesn't make sense.

And for some reason, the UPS that drives around your city that attempts delivery without leaving a note, tells you they tried...

Can't you just drive down to their dispatch and pick up the item???

You can pick it up after hours at your local terminal. Call them

Nope, no slip. It's windy today though, it could have blown away. Tracking says attempt made no one home. I'm not leaving anything out.

No. Rep said Sprint is refusing to allow packages to be picked up.

I did. Did you actually read my post?? They said no. Sprint refuses to allow pick ups.

Same thing just happened with my lady's phone. They didn't bother ringing the bell and left a note. I called UPS and chewed out the driver. I also lied and told them I was leaving for Vegas so they put a hold on the package and I'll be able to pick it up tonight. Maybe you should do the same?

Maybe you should read my post? Sorry, but I'm getting annoyed at how many people are telling me to call them and/or go pick it up when my post clearly says I did call and they won't let me pick it up.

Same thing happened to me last year. The UPS guy pulled up to my driveway and left. Then I checked my status and it said attempted delivery. Didnt end up getting my phone until Monday.

Weird. I have called UPS before after they attempted delivery and they told me where he was on his route and what address he was headed to next so I could pick it up directly from the driver.

I've had this multiple times.
I've even seen it switch from on truck for delivery to delivery attempted at 10pm.
No way they attempted delivery at 10pm.

Mine from Apple was left with a pre-signed form, feel like I got very lucky compared to most who've tried!

Speak to a supervisor and tell them you're to Mexico for two weeks.

For me, that's been FedEx.

I had some medication overnighted to me for delivery on a Friday in July. I was home all day, with the front door open, and around noon the tracking changed to no answer, but there was no slip. I called them, they got confused and sent someone out to pick up a package from me. When I asked about my package and told him I didn't in fact have a package for him, he called the other driver - small town, apparently only 3 FedEx drivers - the guy swore up and down that he tried, but he'll come back because I needed that package that day.

When he showed up, he apologized, he left the slip on the wrong house - never even came close to mine. It worked out in the end, but it was a huge hassle.

That is lucky, I was told by both my office and home UPS delivery persons that no waivers from Apple are accepted. Even once it was just for charging cords.

UPS does this frequently. One time I saw the UPS truck drive at full speed past my house and then say "delivery attempt made"
