I personally find it a bit surprising and upsetting that none of our London members has offered BV a spare Mac to use. Shame, shame on you! ;)

*hangs head in shame*

I would offer... but only just got my new iMac today and need my PB to transfer all my stuff across. sorry!!!!

Well that, and the fact that I'd have to hide all my embarrassing photos and obviously my p0rn collection  hehe

Usually when me pooter "disipears", so does all other electronics. So when my tv,ipod, lappy, and access to anything electronc are gone, i end doing my homeowork for a change...

Hmm, perhaps I should try doing that.

And that will take a week or so? ;)

And,BTW, you could add a new user account and not let her access your collection of troll doll photos....

I would lend her a Mac, but I fear shipping it across that Atlantic (aka- the Pond) would be a bit too pricey. :)

My wife frowns on the time I spend on the computer and with MR, so I am often left to try and find things to occupy my time while wishing I was on the computer. I have to sneak on from time to time when she is on the phone.

Thats great, glad that you are willing to risk getting caught in order to spend some time with the MR crowd. :)

The sad thing is, I have a hard time convincing her that I'm not looking at porn. Who wants to look at porn when you can be on MR? She thinks I'm covering up.

Sad that she thinks so, MR is the best! :)

Heck, MR is about the only thing (besides e-mail) that I do on the internet.

You are aware of tabbed browsing, right? ;) Sometimes, when the post rates are low, you need something else to keep you occupied. ;)

try giving up Apple. :) ;)

When I lived in the states, my Power Mac G5 (rev A) was stold.

Since then I have been trying to get another Mac, although I have use of my mom's crap PC with AOL dial up and Win98 - better than nothing.

I get by, sometimes, a week at a time without a computer. I have hobbies like mongering, taking pictures, drinking beer on the beach, fishing (Dorado season is coming!!!!). Life is different in this small town. The road was paved in 2002, Electricity came before that, the Internet came in 2003. I will post pictures soon.

Withdrawal symptoms almost instantly

I don't know whether to pity you or mock you. Life extends beyond the crystal screen.

Go for a walk in the park, reed a book, climb a mountain. Hell go to the pub and get drunk and meet up with some friends

Note: Win98 is not better than nothing. I'm using it, it sucks, it take 3-4 boots for it to boot corectly. (the is on a fresh install)

and you can't even get the latest Div-X codec for it.
Te only reason I'm using it is because it'll load winamp, and provide a network hub for the rest of my house.

don't miss my personal Apple computer

My laptop was stolen exactly a year ago. Since then, I've access to computers at work. I don't see a future of me owning one.

To me, a computer unconsiously represents work, and I don't have a desire to have one at home. Getting a laptop for work travel; now this would be a different.

I think my current view is from the experience of owning one. Once you have one, the novelty wears off quickly.

Here is a challenge that I'm willing to take on: not buying a computer for myself for as long as possible. It has been four years since I purchased one. I'm hanging in there comfortably.

Fresh air is overrated.

Have Royal 440 and Parker 51 Aerometric, will travel.

Well, maybe not travel with the 440 -- that's what the 51's for.

For the life of me, though, I can't get Fark or MacRumors to come up on the Royal, and the Parker just won't run Lotus Notes ;)

You are 007 ... when did the cost of shipping something ever stand in Bond's way? Use your charm and guile to shake things up and make it happen. :)

that depends on the outside air. In tokyo I'd conceed the point, in Adelaiide however where the sky is blue and visibility ends at the horizon, not a chance.
