Thank you for your concern and helpful advice... I shall treat it with the respect it deserves.

A better and more succinct reply would be hard to come by. Plus, it contains an abundance of cordiality! :)

I can't figure out why you are without machine for so long, but I will suggest you do what I did when I sent my PB in for LCD replacement therapy via the local Apple Store.

Work - every 10-15 min check to see the repair status. Home - find someone with a computer of some sort (I used my wife's PC laptop), continue what you did at work. Follow progress online. I knew that my PB was ready for pickup before I got the call from the Apple Store. When I wasn't doing that, I slept. did I mention that I got a lot of sleep that week? Early to bed, early to rise and all that.

Sad but true. If my Powerbook 'died' and had to be sent off for a number of weeks, I suspect I'd have to go and purchase something to tide me over...

I think I would have to do the same!!!!

Skareb, I think we all realize that. The point of the thread is a light hearted look at how our lives are intertwined with our computers. We like to make fun of ourselves and how we get caught up in our lives.

If you feel the need to bring levity to the discussion, so be it, but it will stick out like a sore thumb in this discussion. Yes, there are people starving around the world, people are hurting from the earthquakes, and hurricanes, and so on and so forth. And we should stop and smell the roses.

But, as Mac users, we tend to think different, about a lot of things.

I disagree with this statement. Life does not, as you point it, 'extend well beyond the computer screen'. What a load of buttocks!

I'd rather is Snowing than 45C and climbing. The Australian Summer bites, especially when you work 1300km North East of Perth.

I guess it's different for differnet people, but I couldn't imagine being couped up infront of a computer screen all day.

Cheers

went to camp for a day and a half... and ended up hauling the laptop, all the accessories, the ipod, the cell phone, etc. with me, even though i didn't have time to use any of it extensively. it just felt good to... have around.

By the way, I don't think there's anything wrong with Blue's computer. I believe she said in a previous thread she's having some work done in her flat and has to move all the computer stuff out of the way.
