Lock screen Notification location issues [MERGED]

Huh? This notification process isn’t a bug. It’s how apple intended and I’m not sure what you’re upgrading but I’ve never had major issues and haven’t had them with this update either. Everything is smooth
So it has to be a big because you aren’t happy

But, seriously, if people want to have input into the next rev of software, they should become a beta tester. Apple opens this up to people of all types so they can provide feedback. If they just wanted tech feedback, they'd limit it to the Dev's and people in IT. Having people of all walks of life be testers gets them more feedback and produces a better product.

Last year they worked so hard to destroy Safari. I guess they are coming after notifications this year. I wonder what they will destroy for iOS 17.
100% this...there needs to be SOMETHING to signify there are notifications waiting. Maybe more people need to install and begin using 16 before we really hear a lot of backlash. I'm sure there are some where it will take a few days for them to figure out they are missing notifications and a few more for them to work up the energy to begin researching why.

It's really quite dumb. Taking the Lock Screen out of it, I am jumping straight to Notification Center from my unlocked iPhone.
Step 1 - Swipe down to bring up notifications. I see one notification and NO indication of any others.
Step 2 - Swipe up (because maybe there's more, maybe there isn't 🤷♂️). This brings up 3 other notifications, including two stacked groups, for a total of 4 on the screen.
Step 3 - Swipe up AGAIN to see if there's anything else. But wait, that bottom one wasn't a grouped notification from the same app, it was MORE notifications shown like they were behind the bottom one which looks EXACTLY like a grouped notification like the one above it.
I don't mean to bash Apple too hard for this one because it feels like beating a blind kid, but this is just stupid. It's a solution in search of a problem. It's the iOS team finding something to do to justify a yearly upgrade to iOS.

Maybe it was in another post you didn't quote, but this person didn't say it was a "bug", they said it was a problem. In my opinion, that problem is that the user experience is now hindered. It may not be a bug in that it was not unintentional, but it's still stupid. It may be smooth and functioning as intended, but that doesn't make it good.

Do we know if this was how it was done in beta? I am not a tester, and given how many posts here and throughout other sites, this is being discussed, shame on the beta testers if this wasn't reported. If it was, was it reported enough in order for Apple to change their mind?!

I was referencing this one. My point is that a lot of us think it is an issue/problem and are fully aware that it isn't a bug.
Oh sorry. My bad. Yea it’s definitely annoying and I’m not a huge fan either. Just apple doing their thing

I'm going off on a bit of a tangent here, but I kinda wonder if the beta program is broken. We have those that install the beta and participate in giving feedback (thanks/kudos to those!); and then we have those that install the beta just to play with shiny new software and not actively participate, which I would suspect is a large majority.
If only there was a way to force people to give feedback or have them complete surveys/polls if they want to use the beta... This is sort of how it is at my work when developing/testing new enterprise applications. "Want to join the pilot program? Be prepared to answer weekly or bi-weekly surveys and give feedback."

Where can we really point to Apple that this is screwed up?
- Feedback app probably will be unread (but they fixed small bug I reported in WatchOS 8 with version 9 without telling 🙂 ).

Stupid suggestion? But maybe MacRumors can make an article out of my thread here to put on the Front Page to get some more attention.....I'm sure people who work at Apple visit this site and it can get relayed back to Development. IDK 🤷♂️🤪
I kinda expected that to happen but then again, I kinda expected more people to be PO'd about it.
I might have found a solution I'm happy with...
Now when I tap on the back of my phone...bada-bing, bada-bang, bada-boom...the Notification Center! It's not hidden and no need to scroll up. My notifications are right there.
(Still think the top-left swipe down action should just go directly to the Notification Center instead of the Lock Screen though.)
Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch -> Back Tap -> Double Tap (or Triple Tap) -> Notification Center
Now when I tap on the back of my phone...bada-bing, bada-bang, bada-boom...the Notification Center! It's not hidden and no need to scroll up. My notifications are right there.
(Still think the top-left swipe down action should just go directly to the Notification Center instead of the Lock Screen though.)

I forgot all about the Back Tap function. I just implemented it for my Notifications…this will work until Apple (if they even do) address the Notification hassle in 16.
