So I got a bit bored at work. :p

I decided to do a redesign of the layout and positioning of things... My goal is practical usage. I frequently check the phone for time. Or get asked "what is today's date?" or "what is today's day?" This is what I came up with. The time is the most dominant since I check it A LOT. I reduced the date to single digit when it's just one digit... much easier to decipher at first glance. The Day remains a hotter color and is less transparent--allowing easy to spot. Since everyone generally know what month it is and obviously the year(I hope so...), those elements are either more transparent or smaller to get out of the way, but is still there. This theme automatically accounts for long and short texts for the month days, etc and it centers them. The only thing not really accounted for is the city, temperature, condition texts. They are just left aligned, so if you got a short city name... it will slide temperature and condition to the left... or if you got long city name... it will push condition off screen.(maybe temperature too if city name is REALLY LONG)

So there lies my question... How would you guys solve that and still make it look good? Assuming I'm not going to change the layout of the other cluster parts?

One screen shot is of the super long texts u can get on the screen: September, wednesday, 12:59, etc
Other screen shot is of the shortest texts u can get: May, Friday, 1:11, etc.

Does anybody know where the font for the date and the city is being pulled from in the LockMS_Weather Theme? It seems to be pulling my system font which I have changed to "Hand of Sean". I like the way the default font looks and if i know which one it is pulling from I can SSH my default back over. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.:)

Thanks Claude, here is my latest.

BTW, how would I go about changing the color of the month/weather description and day/city?

To change my color fonts I went into the theme folder/css/claude626.css. Open it and in text edit or notepad find the piece of info you want to edit then change the hex value for a spefic color. I used this: http://www.dusek.ch/utilities/colors/008800 to pick a color.

I also changed my opacity of the weather icon to .8. I am still trying to figure how to move my slider text into the slider bar.

ok so I am using Claude's ver of this and found an error in the script i think: :confused:
error.png

Also found an error when the time is xx: 44 I think, it needs to be spaced more?:

The only question I have now is how can we make it render faster. It seems like sometimes I unlock my phone and it loads in chunks and takers a second or two. No biggie just dont like it.

I think i figured out how to take off seconds too :p

THANK ALL OF YOU! My final Ver for now:
Edit: I messed something up lmao

Sorry for the long post, again you all rock who have worked on this.

Doh! I must have misspelled it in the whee hours. lol. I completed the very first rewrite draft around 4AM, which was when I made a bunch of mistake on hour calculations too. lol!

You're right, the 44 are close to each other. That's because Helvetica are spaced a bit too far for my liking. and it seems the tighter spacing aren't too friendly with the double 4s. :( You can easily fix that with the CSS: letter-spacing:-7px;

Set it to a higher number and it will space the numbers farther.(0 would be default spacing.) At -5px, it should give a thin black line spacing.

You are right. I separated them into different chunks. It renders time first, then date, then weather if it's enabled.

I just F'ed up all the versions I had saved trying to get the weather for zip code 91362. I also thought the month could be slid left a little but I couldn't get any of it to work. I gave up on removing the seconds too lmao.

Hi,
Is there a way to make this present on the lockscreen while playing an album? Currently, when I'm playing music in iTunes, the album art shows rather than LockMS and thus I can't see the clock.

Thanks.

Thanks for the great looking theme. Is there a way to use the wallpaper from the Settings.app? I don't want to SSH every time I want to change the wallpaper.

Thanks.

I really do appreciate all the hard work. A special thanks to claude.

Which file did you download? If it contains a folder call "Private", then it is not the version I created, which means it's not using the wallpaper in settings.

I'm using one of the versions in the first post. Can I use your settings with his theme?

Here's my finalized (I think ... <_< ) edit of Claude's angled version.

  • Removed the F after the temp
  • Removed seconds
  • Placed AM/PM notification inside the :
  • Added drop shadow for : and AM/PM
  • Changed some positioning/angles
  • Moved weather icon into a more visible position
  • Changed icon set to HTC
  • Changed slider graphics

Hey man thanks a lot! Can u post ur wallpaper? Thanks :)
