It's in the App Atore Already.

It's already in the app store listed price is $199....along with Mainstage 2 for $29 and perhaps the other apps as well.

In-App download for the extra content. Extra content is listed off as being 19GB, at least for Logic Pro only.

Logic X is going indie. It will feature 4-track cassette style recording with a brilliant sound emulation of your favorite cassette multitracks and you can even choose what brand of tape.

If users sell more than 10,000 copies of a track on iTunes, via iCloud, Logic will automatically upgrade you to the Adat pack. 48 tracks with harsh high end and 8 tracks dropping out of sync randomly throughout your session.

if you sell 100,000 copies you get upgraded to the, "I got a record deal" pack, which includes 96 tracks of 2" tape (that's 4 studer's!) the "virtual producer" pack that replays all the parts exactly how you didn't want them played and the "virtual A&R guy" who tells you your song sucks and it needs a stronger chorus and then takes 99% of your profits from iTunes and gives to some guy you'll never meet to spend it on a hookers and blow.

that's 4 studer's!

I'm laughing so hard I'm coughing

I was literally on the verge of buying the Logic Studio from Amazon this week, because I just couldn't wait any longer for an update. (I did notice that the Amazon product title said [Old Version] the past couple days, so I knew something was up.)

Glad I waited...I think. Now on to the Mac App Store.

Logic now sells for $199 on App Store.

This makes me wonder if Logic X is further off than I had hoped.

And what happens when Logic X releases? Is there any precedence yet for software having an upgrade path through the app store, as opposed to just buying the full version every time?

I knew this was going to happen... Out of sheer foresight I bought Logic Studio 9 boxed about a mont ago, which ended up just £124 with the education pricing. Apple aren't converting me to a ridiculous download.

Especially considering these DVD's mount up to 55GB.... My guess in this particular field is that the program will obviously be available on the Mac App Store (because its just half a GB), but the additional Jam Packs/Content will be available to purchase from the Apple Store website. This way, they can still discontinue the software in their retail stores, but make it available to those who really want them off the web.

There may even be a message suggesting that this extra content is available from the online store.

Seriously, I want to buy pro (Credit card in hand)

But does that mean ill pay ANOTHER 200 for logic 10?!

I'm away from my Mac at the moment. Can anyone tell me if the Jam Packs are included for this price? Or are they separate purchases?

19GB of additional in-app download so there is no way all of the Jampacks are included.

So basically they've just got Logic Pro to **** up and then Apple has totally removed themselves from the pro market. I know a lot of people who will be pissed off if Apple mess up Logic Pro.

I wouldn't have posted that if I didn't think so!!!!!

lol - you really think that?

Pros start by looking at the specs first, and what they can do with it, and the shape and colour of the box last.
Just like pros read for content, especially about improved performance. To be perfectly honest I actually do think some pros look at the box to determine if it is a pro level machine. For the most part I don't think pros have a grasp of the underlying technology to even evaluate a machine. The mentality is bigger must be better.
The truth is Apple is pulling out of the Pro software market. I understand it from a business perspective - I just wish they would not keep stringing everyone along and cashing in on the 'Pro' name they invested so heavily in.
You have nothing to base that statement on. Apples till sells its profitable pro hardware and software. Just because a few FCP users grossly over reacted doesn't mean the app is any less of a Pro app. I'm not sure what these clowns where even expecting, Apple had to completely rewrite the app and eventually had to ship something. Now the have a new code base to build upon.
Logic users - I wish you the best of luck with the next update, and I really hope for your sake it isn't Garage Band Pro.

You know I really tire of this ignorance. Just because an app borrows features from another does not imply that it is suddenly less of a pro app. The only proper way to evaluate any changes that might happen to Logic is to use it. Not for one day either but rather for several weeks to overcome muscle memory related to the old app.

I've seen this again an again with all sorts of users when an upgrade comes in. Something changes and the blame the app. That makes no sense at all in the first hour of the first day of use. A classic example is scrolling in Lion, break the muscle memory and adapt to the new method and find out that it does indeed work well.

This doesn't mean all design alterations are right for everybody. What it does mean is that knee jerk reactions are not always the right answer and in fact seldom are.

Pro - Plug-in

I noticed that they've added a new plugin.

The "Pro" mix buss plug-in that turns your track into a mushy pop-rock ballad that a lot of people seem to like, you just don't know any of them.

There's the Mutt preset which makes the song too slow and adds 12 part harmonies and the Cavallo preset which adds a Mandolin and shame.

How did they remove themselves from the "pro" market.

So basically they've just got Logic Pro to **** up and then Apple has totally removed themselves from the pro market. I know a lot of people who will be pissed off if Apple mess up Logic Pro.

This is exactly what I was talking about earlier. Same app yet you come up with this asinine idea that it is no longer a pro app because it is available via app store. Do you really believe that most pros are using the jam packs?

"Apple doesn't care about pros" post in 3,2,1...

If these people who post these things say Apple does not care about Pros with these apps. This proves they can see how these Apps are for Pro users. THis means these Apps are not for them (cause they can't see how they are for pro users). And they are better off sticking with the basic versions like Garageband.

Who's got the time to download 19 gigs of additional content???

Poor showing, Apple. Really poor.

Geez guys... Pro people do not use those sample packs.. they are crap compared to the real hi quality packs out there..

People who are saying this is making Logic less of a pro product than it was, have no idea or whatsoever...

This is great news.. !

I was on about when they release the next version. Version 10. Or X. App Store or no App Store, Logic Pro 9 is fine. What made you think I meant that just because it was going to the App Store it was no longer professional?
