WOW! I would rather get the Logitech for $150 VS $350 for the 12.9 model
APPLE is insane! People are out of work. states going bankrupt over COVID19 CRISIS!
$350 for just a keyboard with a trackpad for an IPAD????

If APPLE was smart they should just add a keyboard and trackpad to the iPad .
Next years A14 model with 5G is going to KILL sales of MacBook Pro's anyway
Just like the iPhone killed the iPod

While this keyboard might be perfect for those who want to use their iPad most of the time as a laptop, it’s not designed for people like me who would use it as a laptop only occasionally. It is just too much hassle that every time I want to use the keyboard, I have to fit and snap it perfectly into the case.

The upcoming magic keyboard with its floating design is better suited for my purpose. But man, 350 dollars, that’s too much money for a keyboard.

Dumb question...where is the keyboard when using the iPad in 'full tablet' mode? Is it covered/protected by the kickstand?
From what I’ve read and understand on the logitech website, the keyboard detaches, leaving you with the iPad +the back cover, for using as a ‘full’ tablet.

Yeah I think that’s basically the same principle as the Magic Keyboard, except the latter doesn’t have a back cover, leaving the back and sides of the iPad fully nude in tablet mode unless you spring for a scratch-repellent skin (not my style but ymmv.)

I have an iPad 7, so this Logitech offering might be tempting. As I recall, the spec say about 23 oz, so it's going to add some bulk and weight.
They say 23oz so they didn't have to say almost 2lbs! Well there went all of the portability of an iPad. I will have to pass on this purchase I guess.

Well I’m excited for this. I just ordered mine and it should be here by Friday. When I’m at home, I generally use my magic keyboard and trackpad with my 10.5 Pro, but this sounds like the perfect way to travel with my iPad while still maintaining trackpad and keyboard access. I’ll let you guys know what I think once it arrives.

This fake outrage was hilarious. Thanks for that

Just ordered mine. I’ve been so excited for this product. As a teacher using my iPad a ton for online learning with my students this should be pretty wonderful to get my hands on.

Yes, pretty hefty. Also, the keyboard appears to need to be removed so you can use it in tablet mode. That is not ideal. With the Apple Smart Keyboard, you can flip the keyboard behind and hold the iPad in tablet mode. Of course, ASK doesn't have a trackpad, so......trade-offs.

Anyone know if the pencil holder comes off? It looks built in and would be pretty stupid to me if you didn’t own a pencil nor ever wanted one

"If APPLE was smart they should just add a keyboard and trackpad to the iPad" - just buy a MBA or MBP instead. I think you'll find there are a lot of iPad users who don't want an external keyboard and trackpad. If they did, a lot of them would buy a MBA.

"Next years A14 model with 5G is going to KILL sales of MacBook Pro's" - absolutely delusional. There are so many reasons why MBA/MBP users prefer that form factor and OS, and it has nothing to do with the two features you mentioned.

I think you'll find that 5G is overrated, and you'll hardly notice the difference. 4G can stream video, so that's 99% of our use cases covered. And regardless, there will be nothing stopping anyone getting a 5G USB thingo to plug into their MBA/MBP, or tethering with hotspot.

Modern processors are overkill for most users, so A14 will make no difference. The only reason I use a MBP instead of MBA is for the 15" screen, RAM, and SSD options. If they made a MBA with all that, and with the lower spec MBA processor, I'd get that instead.
