Yes, the ASK can just fold back behind when using in tablet mode....I use it this way all the time on my 10.5 IPP for the past 2.5 yrs.

I wonder though if using it this way does not stress the connections in the ASK! I’m on my 2nd ASK for my 10.5 IPP. They both experienced the same issue over time:
- Many instances where the ASK loses it’s connection while typing and must be reattached. More frequent over time.
- Many instances where a period (.) or letter would just start repeating when typing...forcing me to pull the cover off and reattach to stop this. Problem becomes more frequent over time.

My first case finally stopped working altogether after the problems above started occurring much more frequently. I think either there is a basic design flaw with the ASK or its simply not that ”sturdy”.

I’ve played around with attaching my Apple Trackpad to my IPP to see how it worked. Many nice navigation gestures included....a new way to interact with the iPad and helps keep the fingerprint smudges down😊

Yes, I had the same case...but for my 9.7 IPP (2017). Excellent case, fantastic keyboard (ie great feel and was backlit) and best of all....it had a pencil holder!

my ASK also just died the other day on the 10.5 IPP like i cannot type and the onscreen keyboard does not go away yet the connector on both the ipad and the ASK itself look fine.

Ordered this one now as a replacement and will try my luck. Never liked the viewing angle on the ASK anyway, i always had to place something behind my iPad to watch anything on it properly

Wonder if Apple is going to release a new iPad Air this year. That and this case would be awesome to get.

This actually looks like a super nice case, miles ahead of that $349 keyboard Apple just released that looks like it will tip over with a small wind. I still don't get why Apple doesn't just simply copy the surface pro with it's kickstand, any tablet without a kickstand is automatically inferior IMO right out of the gate. I wonder what this Logitech case would look like if Apple designed it, they would probably do a really nice job (but charge double for it) Anyways Kudos to Logitech for making a really nice keyboard case with kickstand.

It’s just me or this looks like Microsoft Surface?

It's exactly like a surface pro, just as an addon case instead of built into the hardware. It seems like a very nice solution, although the weight isn't ideal.

I was checking for impressions of the case on twitter, and found something interesting. Apparently, the keyboard is pretty light, and it’s just the case itself that’s heavy. Since the keyboard is perfect usable without the official case, I think replacing the bulky Logitech case with a lightweight kickstand case (Just gotta find one that doesn’t cover the smart connector) would be a perfect solution for those of us who don’t want to deal with the extra heft :)

According to the same guy, the trackpad has real clicks, which is totally fine at this price point.

Hands on video (I think the guy speaks chinese):

The more I think about these things, the more I think that Apple still hasn't gotten the design right. I really think that Microsoft's Surface Book is the best design currently. If I'm going to entertain the idea of tossing my MacBook and switching to an iPad + keyboard/trackpad, I need the screen to be fully supported by the keyboard/base, and for its angle to be adjustable.

I've stated it in the past, but I actually think that the ideal setup would be an iPad/MacBook device that runs *both* OSX and iPad OS. When "docked" into the keyboard/base, it would be running OSX. When disconnected from the base, it would switch to running iPad OS. Maybe one day.

Until then, I'll probably have to stick to using a MacBook most of the time, and just supplement it with an iPad/Pencil for graphic design creation.

Just got it, very high quality but is thick. Will post some additional pics and thoughts in the iPad accessory forum.

.......Love the style of the case, built in trackpad is nice, backlighting, pencil holder (huge), ability to disconnect the keyboard easily and have a protected ipad (and something to grip) when using in tablet mode. I love Logitech’s keyboards in general (had the Smart Keyboard case for my 9.7 IPP...a fantastic keyboard experience). The only concern for me for this new case would be the usability as a keyboard on the lap....might work well, but would need to test it. To me, this one covers just about all of the bases.
I ordered this for an Air 3 and it arrived today. I’m in the process of testing it out and everything I speculated above about the case...I agree with after having used it a bit today.

The only downsides to this case in my opinion are:
  • Weight - It’s a bit on the heavy and bulky side. Not a big deal for me, but something to note.
  • Use on the lap - The combination of the detectable keyboard and the kickstand make typing on the lap a bit precarious. I was on the deck using it on my lap to type and it tumbled over backwards once...detaching from the keyboard and landing on the deck (unharmed:)).
I love the keyboard...typical fantastic keyboard from Logitech. Trackpad is fully functional with all gestures of the Apple Trackpad...as far as I can tell.

I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5 with the only dings really due to the things I mentioned above.

Have you ever tried using an iPad with a keyboard case? Personally, I wouldn’t want to use an iPad without one....unless the Mini! The point is they add functionality to the iPad And make it more productive.

Yeah, by turning it into a....laptop!

Got mine delivered today, the keyboard and trackpad work great, very comparable to the Surface type cover, which I loved. The only thing is, the actual plastic case itself is pretty heavy and thick due to the kickstand. Overall, I’d say its a pretty good product.

I’ve been using mine for a few days now and so far I’m liking it a lot more than I thought I would. The case surely is heavy but I’ve gotten used to the weight, and I like having a kickstand much more than I thought. It’s so much more stable when standing on its own than my Smart Cover and having all of the different angles is nice. The keyboard and trackpad are fantastic as well and I find I’m using my iPad more than I did before. As an example I’m waiting out in the car and before I left, I grabbed it since I knew typing on it would be easy.

When I’m not using the keyboard, I’ve had the Smart Cover on it (which fits perfectly with the edges of the case) to protect the screen, generally just around the house, and the one thing I do miss is the Smart Cover sticking to the back magnetically when you fold it back. I might play around with magnets later and see if I can get it to stick by putting some on the inside of the Logitech case...
