yup, not even ac, let alone ax support for the current developing standard.

no PoE makes this not great...im struggling to pick a camera system for a business. It seems that Nest now has made their subscription service include all the cameras for one price rather than all cameras are a fee on the subscription.

Granted, my customers would probably not be too giddy about a security system integrated with Google.

I'd get a better response with an "homecooked" solution, ex: cameras connected to a closed network with local redundant storage. Don't get to view anything remotely but no one worries about their personal security or face being logged by a company that very obviously sells individual's data.

If they offered both an 802.11ax and a PoE variant that would be perfect. WiFi can be flakey at times. Personally I avoid Google products like the plague due to them dropping support for virtually everything, their censorship record on Youtube, general business practices, I don't trust them. There's no way I would be OK with them having live feeds of my home, I only have a small amount of trust in Apple as their business model has been around a major privacy focus and their decent track record.

Pretty much all of the options like Ring are just massive privacy/security issues, hence Homekit is the only real option if you care about your privacy.

I think this HomeKit ecosystem is still in the development phase, but it has a lot of potential. I already use a bunch of iCloud storage, $10 a month to never have to worry about data loss, every family picture, every important document, plus 'free' cloud video storage makes HKSV a no brainer for me.

Circle 2 reliability didn't impress me. Here's hoping they got it right this time.

What sort of reliability issues if you're using it with HomeKit Secure? I'd assume that once you've ditched Logi's app and your running on HomeKit then all of the software side of things are on apples side? Is that not the case?

Sitting with my neighbor drinking coffee. He just ordered 3 from their website, not sure what you're referring to
All of their webcam pages are showing either "Out of stock" or "Out of stock due to high demand." And even their StreamCam page is saying the same. So, not sure what you're referring to either.

Their Brio cam is back ordered for roughly 2 months in Canada now. As an example. Their 5 other webcam products share the same story.

I don’t know what to tell u.
He went to Logitech, searches for the product and bought a few 35 mins ago.
Posts on reddit show people also bought in the last few hours.....
Keep checking I guess

Never heard of that one, and its not listed on Apples site of camera that work with HomeKit secure video, even though their product site clearly says it does...
Announced at CES and is supposed to be shipping end of this month. I’m sure Apple will update then. Not 180° but 5GHz

That might be different by country. Here in Canada I have real issues getting that stuff. Checked out a couple of their resellers too, the only answer I get is “on back order from China”.

So if this thing is almost the size of a US wall outlet's frame, why is the resolution so low? This thing is massive. Does the ring do something to improve the quality of their image over their standard 1080p webcams? Cause those things are terrible at making a room viewable. Maybe, it might be low due to bandwidth limits, but they at least could sell a 4K camera that is HD on some streaming services but 4k on others.

I'm happy to see more cameras with Homekit Secure Video coming to the market. I have the older Circle reflashed with Homekit firmware, and it works fairly well. Homekit Secure Video in combination with a Homekit hub (in my case Apple TV) is pretty much the only privacy-friendly cloud recording solution with E2E encryption on the market. I wouldn't buy any camera without it anymore.

I have used 3 Circle 2 cameras since they released. Great cameras, and free 24 hour storage. The money I have saved over the last few years by not paying for Nest or Ring fees is a great selling point. The quality is great on the 2 at 1080P and I have had zero reliability issues. I can easily view the 3 cameras on any device through Logitech’s service and download any clip. I don’t really see a need to go back days or weeks anyway. The 24 hours free works great. If something happens at my home, I know about it within plenty of time to check the video. I am glad the new ones will be in black.

Apple should separate the listings on their site for cameras that do not support Secure Video service but are HomeKit enabled. arlo has good cameras on spec sheet, but do not currently support Secure Video with no published plan to do so.

While HKSV is safe enough for me as a home user, it's still one of those things that will make customers cock their heads sideways at me for implementing as all the video is stored off-site.

iCloud is quite safe to my understanding, but someone will inevitably remind me of the massive breach years back that saw celebrity accounts leaked.

Interesting that it MSRPs for less than the Circle 2. Is it inferior?

Also interesting that the wired Circle 2 hasn't been available for months. I wonder if it's been discontinued in favor of this camera.

That wasn't a breach, the celebrities just fell victim to phishing attacks (and hadn't secured their accounts with 2-factor authentication). But the great thing about Homekit Secure Video is that the videos are secure even if an account is breached, since they are E2E encrypted, and nobody but the user can decrypt them.

Eve launched it earlier this year at CES (I think). It'll be interesting to see the specs of this compared to the new Logitech as I'd think they'll be similar and I would hope Eve will come in cheaper.

Think they actually look alike as well!

I am considering the Eve one too. It's indoor only unlike this Logitech but all my Eve HomeKit stuff has been rock solid, and their app is solid.

I bought several Circle 2 cameras some years ago when they launched. I have been massively disappointed by them. The problem is the user experience is severely degraded when video is stored in the cloud. Since then I have got many other cameras that do a great job and have MicroSD card storage and cost significantly less. I would recommend the Tapo C100 by TP-Link. There are many others. They don't work with Homekit but most will work with Alexa. I just use the camera's app.

I hope Apple has fixed the problems with HomeKit Secure Video because when I tried it, it was so awful I had to run back to Logitech's solution.

- The HomeKit Secure video missed the first few seconds of activity. With Circle Safe, the seconds before the activity is detected would be included in the recording, but with HomeKit Secure Video, it's as if the hub is too slow at analyzing the scene and detecting the object, and so misses the first few seconds since it doesn't start recording fast enough. I think that because Circle Safe always sends everything to the server, and processes things there, it can actually append the moments leading to the motion whereas the local hub with HomeKit cannot because the hub has to detect movement before it's sent to the servers.
-The Logitech app has an option to keep recording a certain time even after the motion event has stopped occurring (useful to at least hear what is going on even if someone is no longer in the camera field of vision). HomeKit Secure Video doesn't.
- HomeKit Secure Video detects change of lighting (turning lights on and off for example) as a movement. Circle Safe didn't.
- There is no day brief option for HomeKit Secure Video like the Logi Circle Safe to view all events in a few seconds.
- The recording quality with HomeKit Secure Video looks inferior to the Logitech Circle Safe.

Pretty sure that celebrity leak was more due to phishing and the like and not some actual hacking.
True, I would rather have the piece of mind that if say a fire destroyed my server I haven’t lost everything.

I balance risk with ease of use and security. Is my stuff actually very sensitive - no, I’d just rather not have other people access it. I do carry a small risk of having a fire for example like we all do. Also having the convenience of it all in the Apple ecosystem is definitely a plus.

If I was exceptionally concerned I would run my own Ubiquiti setup with a second offsite backup, but my house isn’t Fort Knox and I’m of no interest to any government agency so I’m not that concerned.

The Silicon Valley cartel worries me more than the government ever does.

Yea no, the switch to HSV brought just as many issues with the cameras as before. For example, mine constantly turn from stream and recording to just stream on their own. They lock up completely often as well.
