I own the previous generation MX Master mouse and have to use the wireless receiver WITH a USB extension cable to make sure the receiver is literally next to my mouse. Otherwise just plugged directly into the back of my iMac or bluetooth, the mouse doesn't work consistently. Maybe this for Mac version fixes this since it doesn't have a receiver at all? Or maybe it's because my iMac is from 2012 and has a lower bluetooth version?

Wow. That keyboard is nice. I have 2 macs I on my desk. This means I have 2 keyboards and 2 mice on my desk. This keyboard uses F13, F14 and F15 to switch amongst up to 3 macs. Nice! This means I only need 1 keyboard.

I don't see that feature with the mouse, but the picture shows only 1 keyboard and 1 mouse. I'll have to look into this more :)
It's under Flow in the LogiOptions software. Enjoy your newly found freedom! Lol.

Maybe read the article instead of just the headline? Just a suggestion.
I'm trying to see what the difference is. Aside from matching Apple's aluminum colors, the only things I've been able to find so far is that what was the Mute key is now an Eject key and their seems to be some new gesture options available with the mouse; what those new options are I have no clue yet. I reached out to Logitech on Twitter. Will let you know what the say.

I don’t get the circular keys. Yeah, it looks cute and perfect for teenage bloggers, but maybe not so much for professionals who need accuracy.
It's surprisingly accurate and comfortable for a mobile keyboard. I have an earlier version of it. Are you going to want to write a thesis with it? Nope, but for a mobile keyboard, daily usage is actually fairly pleasant.

I have the MX KEYS and MASTER 3 for use with a PC, MBP, and iPad.

The three buttons above insert, home, and page up are quick switches for PC 1, 2, and 3. But I rarely use them. The software lets you automatically switch from one device to the next as you move your cursor to an edge you have selected. This can be performed with a fluid motion to the edge or motion when a key is pressed. You can have the across positioned across your desk or if you have one stacked above. In my case my Mac is to the left and my ipad is under my PC display. They mouse and keyboard switch.

If you press the Keyboard device buttons I mentioned it changes to the device for the keyboard but not the mouse.

Which takes me to the mouse's switch. Someone else noted there is a system switch button under the mouse, and that's true. I find it really annoying because when I do have to use it it means flipping the mouse over... although to Logitiech's credit I can flip and press it without looking at the mouse. Again, I rarely use these buttons.

I got this keyboard as a replacement for my Corsair mechanical keyboard... and while I don't enjoy typing on the MX as much it does make switching between the MX Chiclets and the MBP keyboard less noticeable.
I, for the life of me, will never understand two things about the MX series:
1- why is the device switcher for the MX3 on the bottom??? I'm with you, it's annoying.
2- the mouse is only available as a right-handed device and on the keyboard the ONLY function key (used for standard F-keys and DuoLink) is ALSO on the right side of the keyboard. They could have either given us two function keys or, if they're only going to make a right-handed version of the mouse, at least put the function key on the left.

Otherwise I'm absolutely loving the combination. I wonder what the software differences between the original/for Mac versions are...

How customizable are these keyboards? One of my major issues is trying to map fn to command on a MBP. Can logitech do that through software with the click of a buttom?
They keyboard really only has about five points of customization; the mouse is really where you get an insane amount of customization.

Might have to check out that mouse. The Apple Magic Mouse is just killing me from an ergonomic standpoint i.e. holding the low height thing between your thumb and 3 fingers while constantly keeping your pointer finger hovering above the surface (always mindful about accidentally brushing it against the surface). There's absolutely nothing about holding that mouse that's relaxing on your wrist. At least it's not shaped like a hockey puck...
The MX3 is absolutely insane. I love it so much! It's incredibly comfortable, the smoothness and speed of the scroll wheel is fantastic, and the level of customization is incredible. I have mine set up so that one of the gesture buttons controls OS window functions, another gesture button to control app specific functions (you can even set specific actions in specific apps), and a few other points of customizations set up. If you're looking for a new mouse THIS is the mouse you need!

I just bought an MX Master 3 for my new Mac Mini. Is this new mouse the same exact thing? I do like the new keyboard. I'm not a fan of the current magic keyboard I have, although I love having it with my magic trackpad connected together.

Yep, I have an Apple magic mouse and the ergonomics are horrendous. Unusable. I just bought the MX Master 3 and it's incredible.
How do you have the gestures set up for your MX 3? I have mine set up so that the side gesture button handles OS window management stuff and the top gesture button/buttons beneath the horizontal scroll wheel handles app specific functions.

How so? My current Logi BT devices have the option to pair to three separate selectable devices.
Could be for adding older BT devices so that they play well with the Flow functionality.

I quite like my K380, works a treat with my iPad Pro and my laptop. Looks like the updated version does away with dual printed keys to support Windows and macOS in-favour of just the macOS keys.
For it's size I really do enjoy the K380 too: it's comfortable to type on and it's super portable.

I really love Logitech keyboards. I just replaced my 7-year old Logitech Solar with another a few weeks ago. That's seven years. It just wouldn't hold the charge anymore. And the solar keyboard... I think I bought it for $40. Super bargain.

They don't sell the Solar keyboard in black for the Mac anymore. I would've considered purchasing this new model. USB-C charging and Bluetooth? Perfect.

Maybe the keyboard has a silver look now but the mouse does not. The "old" MX Master 3 mouse comes in dark & light gray. The "new" one is dark gray only.

At the start of quarantine I decided to pick up an MX Keys keyboard since I was sick of switching between my wireless magic keyboard connected to my Mac (personal) and my wired magic keyboard w/ number keys connected to my PC (work). The MX Keys is AWESOME! The ability to switch between both machines flawlessly, having a number pad, long battery life, and USB-C charging were all great. The feel/feedback of the keys is also fantastic. Admittedly, I turned off the backlighting after the first day, but don't miss it and the battery is still going strong after 4 months.

I was so pleased with the keyboard that I picked up the MX3 mouse last month to replace my magic mouse (Mac) and M510 Logitech mouse (PC). Took longer to get used to, but I do like the new scroll wheel, customizable buttons, and overall feel.

So while I had been 'matchy matchy' with Apple accessories for well over a decade, I am more than happy with my decision to move on and use these two logitech products. Highly recommend checking one or both of them out.

There should be a law against this straight keyboard design. Why is Microsoft the only company that really takes ergonomic design mainstream? Apple, please wake up to this issue. A slight curve in the keyboard would make all the difference, but I know you're afraid of "fear of change" by consumers.

I literally just bought an MX Keys last week. It by far has the best feeling keys and comparable to the wired Apple keyboards they stopped making just a few years ago. Slightly more travel, and more stable keys. I love it, and to find this out is encouraging. If they just released this, I’m guessing they will be making it for at least four or five years, and give me plenty of time to buy a few back up.

I write full time, so having a keyboard that doesn’t hurt my hands or wear on them is a top Work priority.

I have the matte grey (silver) mx master 3 and love it. i had initial scrolling issues that were solved by turning off smart scrolling. It's an absolute life saver for drafting in vectorworks and I couldn't imagine going back to the track pad drafting i had sworn by for years. I'm the rare mac user that buys everything in silver.

I am going to disagree with you. I use it at the most dim setting, but not off, and it never changes.

Hmm.... I must be doing something wrong, or mine is perhaps faulty, but it never stays at minimum for me. As a result, I end up having to charge it every 5-10 days, which isn't a big deal, but I'd rather not have to so I leave it off. I rarely need the backlight, so it's not a dealbreaker.

At least for the original MX Keys the backlight comes on when your fingers are over the keyboard. Which really helps with battery life. Here is a 30 second demo.

At least on the newer design, it's more clear how to access the function (F1, F2, F3, etc.) mode. The old design was just weird with the "fn" key replacing the secondary Option key.

I used the sculpt for two years. Loved it, but my hand issues went away when I switched back to an Apple extended wired keyboard, and stopped resting my wrists when I was typing. Now the MX I’m doing the same thing. Proper hand position and travel distance of keys I think are the unsung enemies of RSI issues. I suspect lot of people using mechanical keyboards with heavy keys wil Develop major issues over the next couple years. I agree they are more fun to type on, but if I use them for any length of time, my hands just feel tired.

It’s low travel stable scissor switch keyboards for life for me. And voice dictation when I can.

Yes. I did it with my MX board last week no problem.

You can also press Fn + esc to lock the buttons to either function or shortcuts.

Do use bluetooth or the dongle?

I’d love if Apple produced a wired moused and wired keyboard with rear USB port for mouse. Never needing to change your peripherals and not needing batteries is IMO a far superior design. Anyone know of a good wired keyboard for Mac with UK/Ireland key layout?

The article says the mouse available now on Amazon but when I go there it says it's only available for preorder and won't ship till August 1.

What are the odds of a new Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse with the release of the updated iMac?

Maybe read the article instead of just the headline? Just a suggestion.
I did read the article but when it says they are optimized versions for Mac, I just didn’t see any difference.

But thanks to useful comments like @markaceto and specially @4jasontv who made a comparison side by side showing the subtle differences, now I know how do they differ with the current version of this peripherals. Thanks guys!

I’m not sure what the difference is with the earlier MX master 3 but I purchased one a couple of months ago and it had plenty of scrolling issues.
Yeah, i had the same issue. Switched to the MX Anywhere 2s (because the Master 3 was bothering my wrist). Same issues with the 2s. Doing a quick search shows that logitech mice and macs have a troubled history of bluetooth connectivity and scrolling/lag issues.
I got a replacement for my first 2s and the replacement exhibits the same behavior.

As cross platform user I still prefer original MX Keys, also I am afraid because it sometimes ‘Mac Version’ of same products tends to be slightly expensive.
