Wow, this actually looks great. I like that you can reverse the keyboard so that the keys are facing inward while using the iPad in tablet mode. It still baffles me why Apple didn't make a keyboard that can stay attached while using the tablet functions. I'm also loving Logitech's keyboards lately -- using the nice MX Keys keyboard to type this now -- so I'd try one of these over the overpriced (and now already superseded) Magic Keyboard.

These things look great but they are heavy. Too heavy.
I am curious how heavy the kickstand portion of the case is without the keyboard. I love the kickstand on my surface pro that I use for work. I can see me just using that portion of the case the vast majority of the time and leaving the keyboard off, but if it adds too much bulk and weight, it might not be worth it.

STM finally came out with a new model of the Dux Shell - Apple even sells it on their store. I had wanted one for so long and wasn't willing to settle for the Cover Buddy or the other popular one. The new STM works great.
Well, hot damn! This is exactly what I had been wanting, but STM hadn't produced it yet.

Thank you ever so much for the tip!

This looks nice and I like the function row of keys. However, having had my Magic Keyboard on my 2018 12.9 for the last year, the Magic Keyboard is one of the best accessories Apple has made. It’s design is amazing, the USB-C charge port is very handy, the backlit keys are great at night, and the ease of connecting/removing is really nice as well. It has essentially allowed me to go away from my MBP and go with an iMac. If I need laptop level functionality, my iPP/MK combo does the job for me with the added bonus of being a tablet with Pencil support. Hard to beat that combo.

I have the version for the 10.5" iPad Pro, but ended up not using it - I never took the time to check the actual weight, but the iPad felt significantly heavier and bulkier with the case. As nice as it looks, I wouldn't recommend this unless you mostly use the iPad with the keyboard (and then the question is really if a laptop isn't a better option).

I have this for the 11 inch, and I do really like it, but I prefer Magic Keyboard for 12.9. The Logitech is just too heavy/bulky for me to ever want to use the larger iPad in tablet mode with that on, and taking it on and off isn't as simple as with the magic keyboard.

For the 11, I sort of like the kickstand design-- I do like the versatility of viewing angles it gives, including with the keyboard completely folded back. And I like having the option of using it in tablet mode. But the kickstand does make it really unusable on a lap or on a soft surface (bed), whereas the MK is great for that. But the drawback of the MK is that viewing angles are limited, and I have to take it off for drawing.

Since you have this case..question..the kickstand in the back from the youtube video looks kind of, cheap looking..does it work really well? Since the keyboard is removable, does it take some force to remove it or does it come off easily..I like the apple keyboard case problem is Im not a fan of it being magnetic in the back Id have to be real careful to make sure its put on perfectly so it fits in place

Got one for my air 3 - it works well, but makes the ipad very huge and heavy, not to say clunky. God knows why it adds about half a centimeter to the back of the ipad

The kickstand doesn't seem cheap at all to me. I wouldn't say exactly force-- but I also wouldn't say easy-- it's a substantial case, but I don't feel like I'm going to damage the iPad taking it on and off.

For what it's worth, I don't feel like I have to be that careful with the MK-- the magnets guide it into place pretty easily.

The kickstand is well designed, you can even bend it more than 90 degrees which gives you a lot of use cases.

The keyboard comes of easily, too easy in my opinion. If you let it dangle from the ipad, its own weight will usually be just enough to drop it.

Darn that is the one thing that makes me hesitant about it..want the keyboard to stay on I dont care much for taking it off. I have the logitech slim folio case for the 11 inch 2018 model which I loved but that keyboard never came off ..so the kickstand isnt cheap looking or anything in the youtube video it looks kind of flimsy so wasnt sure..if only the apple keyboard case in the back was not magnetic something similar to this one Id buy it I like a case that covers the ipad

Get rid of the bezel mounted enclosure and use magnets to hold the iPad (e.g. Magic Keyboard) and we’ve got a deal.

It stays on when it's closed, though. Dropped it a few times when swinging it around like I used to do with apple's smart case, but I seem to have gotten used to it now.

The ability to tilt it backwards to any angle you like, is a big plus for Logitech.

Apple’s Magic Keyboard is handicapped, because it cannot tilt backwards by a lot or tilt forwards by a lot. Very limited range.

what about Zugu (Zugu Case)? They have an iPad Pro case that can tilt backwards by a lot. And it’s lightweight. Not as heavy as Logitech.

Personally after trying the Magic Keyboard case it put me off getting anything like that again… for me it would have to offer a tablet mode as well as I don’t like using my iPad as a tablet naked. I feel taking it out of the keyboard case and putting into another case to use as a tablet is just too cumbersome.

For me a better alternative was getting the Mac Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2 and keeping the iPad in a regular folio case, then I can just whip out the keyboard and trackpad when the need arises,

These keyboard cases just make the iPad into a dumbed down laptop, in which case you may aswell just get a MacBook Air.

Just my thoughts on it, now if Apple brought a refreshed keyboard with a collapsible hinge to convert it into a tablet mode, I may be swayed to get one again.
This is the perfect case for you then. You can remove the keyboard and still keep the iPad cased with a stand.

…or just buy a laptop instead of trying to turn your tablet into a laptop. 🙄
When it’s literally advertised as a laptop replacement or “A computer but not a computer” as Apple put it then this makes sense. It has keyboards and mouse input functionality so it can be a laptop and a tablet. Not to mention it has the M1 which is arguably the best laptop chip in the market.

yeah I remember playing around with the apple smart case and I hated how if you dangled it it would fall off hated that..so I wish this case keyboard was connected..not sure if logitech will come out with a case similar to this that has the keyboard connected

The hinged backlit keyboard case I use on my iPad Pro also swivels so the screen can be turned 180 degrees backwards and lie flat on the keyboard. Meaning if you desire to use it solely as a tablet you can without removing it from the case.

Yeah only realised after posting that this case actually has a ‘tablet’ mode, the only gripe I have is the price of it for a 3rd party accessory, may look at this sometime in the future though…

At the moment I am quite happy with the Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad combination.

What case is that one?

Why are the iPad keyboards so expensive. Add this to the price of a new iPad and it would be cheaper to buy a MacBook Air.
Apple ruined the market with their insanely priced $350 keyboard. Now 3rd party manufacturers feel free to hike the price way up and still be cheaper. I have a similar keyboard for my 2017 12.9 iPad Pro (slim combo keyboard cover). I love it and it only was $130.
