The kickstand is well designed, you can even bend it more than 90 degrees which gives you a lot of use cases.

The keyboard comes of easily, too easy in my opinion. If you let it dangle from the ipad, its own weight will usually be just enough to drop it.
another question about the keyboard..if you dont dangle it, does it still come off easily or no

So I have decided to give this a try, and that’s because this appears to be the only case that I can make support a stand in both landscape and portrait mode. We’ll have to see how that works.

Before you point out thst the included kickstand doesn’t support portrait (which is correct), I’m planning on implementing the portrat mode (and better non-keyboard landscape mode) by attaching the MOFT tablet stand.

With orgininal iPads, I liked the Targu versavu series of keyboard cases, but they never made the keyboard versions for larger tablets. Plus, it was a Bluetooth kb that needed separate charging and occasional re-pairing, but the smart connector didn’t work so well.

With the iPad pro, I went to the Apple Smart Keyboard and the Fellowes MobilePro folio. Heavy, but ok in tablet mode as you could remove the tablet shell. Tablet she’ll rotated similar to Targus versavu. The biggest problem was it was on the expensive side (but about half the Logitec) and the shell was damage prone: Usually one of the corners broke off, and that made the shell useless.

Those became rare as well as expensive so I bought a large leather folio and used the Pippetto origami case, plus Smart Keyboard.

I still plan to use the leather folio for protection, but to fit in there the inner case I need has to be reasonably thin. The STM dux looks too thick to work. The magic keyboard doesn’t have any provision for portrait/tablet mode except taking it off and using the tablet naked. It also has no edge protection, hence my willingness to try this.

i generally think of Logitec as a maker of cheap PC peripherals and not very mac-like, but I’m hoping this is different.

I also hope the new design of the smart connector is better; the old one was too fussy although a large portion of that seemed to be the requirement thst the keyboard be folded and rested in the groove to work, not just electrically connected to the pogo pins.

When is this case actually shipping? I ordered it the day the iPads came out for pre-order, and haven’t heard anything from Logitech and it is not listed on their site for a shipping date. Seems kinda shady.

Thought they said June/July

Apple store quotes delivery windows starting 5/27. Logitech now allows you to order, vs. previously “coming soon” and “pre-order.” I may not have a great view of the overall quality of there products (albeit not a lot of experience as in the past they were more wintel oriented), but as a company they have been around for a while and I don’t think they have a track record of a lot of late-stage vapourware.

Where did you order from? I don’t remember either Logitech or Apple having it available, at least for the 12.9” ipp. The 11” version hasn’t changed so should have been available.

i won’t argue about the quality of the actual Brydge keyboard (partly because I’ve never tried one), but it depends on what you want or what you’re looking for. I prefer a really tactile clicky keyboard; if it isn’t that then I’m choosing it based on some other criterion. The Logitec, at least on paper, best meets all of my criteria (see above).

The trouble with the Logitech keyboard is unlike their previous non trackpad keyboard for the Pro, this one cannot be used on your lap. That’s a total deal breaker for me.
As such, for a trackpad keyboard that leaves either Apple’s non function keys offering or the Brydge. As the Brydge is slightly cheaper and has a row of function keys, my money will go to Brydge.
