Sold my 32gb 3G in November for £552, £48 less than I paid for it on launch day :)

the people selling them for $275-$300, don't they think it might not be bad just to have a $275 item themselves?

It just seems at that price, you might as well keep it.
At that price, Craigslist just isn't worth the hassle.

I sold an old iPhone on CL and a week later, the buyer calls back and said he got his new iPhone stolen while paying someone to jailbreak it. Jerk wanted his money back...

A bunch of winners on CL.

I don't understand the obsession with selling old hardware when you get new. The more iPads laying around my house (and car) the better. It is a super handy device to just pick up and use when you need to look something up. Eventually, there will be an old one out in my garage for when I need to look up something mechanical. Perfect computer for the kitchen counter, too.

Wow, if someone called and said that to me I would laugh hysterically into the phone. To the point where I would literally feel sick from laughing so hard. I would then send him an email thanking him for said laugh.

It's a cool device sure but, most people(myself included) don't find it practical to have two iPads, three iPods, and a few MacBooks laying around the house. Especially when I have two working legs that can walk to the device if it's not around me at the time lol.

You don't understand the desire to receive value for a product you'll no longer use? Maybe YOU would like to have an iPad in every room in your home. Personally, I'd just assume have 1 and take it around with me. I like to be a tad more responsible with my money but hey, if you got the cash, more power to ya.

Craigslist is the general public. They will always be behind. People still do not know that the new MBPs are out. And frankly, this forum is biased because most people do not care. Most people don't even know what a macbook pro's differences are except that "its new".

And another thing about craigslist, you need to list high. For someone who uses craigslist on a daily basis, if you post up $450 you're going to get offers for "I got $300 cash TONIGHT bro." And of course writing "no low ballers" is analogous to writing "hi", cause you get low ballers anyway. Then you got people who show up with less money than was agreed and try to make you "pick out whatever you want" out of metal briefcases in their trunk to make up for the difference (true story. happened to me last month). If you've used craigslist you know that you always list high cause there's only one way to go from there, and it is WAY down. And patience is key.

^ I sell plenty of stuff on CL and price as 'firm' with most. This way I get the offers I want and not all the idiots that offer $50 for a $150 item...

How much?

should I see my iPad for... 64gb 3g and wifi

3 cases.. Apple Case.. MacAlly BookStand, and Speck CandyShell....

I listed @ $600... Every other model like mine is going for $700... without the cases..

Is that fair? :D

True but I guess it depends on what area you are in and what item you are selling. Anything below $200 that has "firm" on it, most people don't bother low balling because it's already a low priced item. But if you try and sell a few computers and laptops that are over $1000 on CL, FIRM doesn't stop the lunatics. The only way I got them to stop is to write a disclaimer up top addressing that it is CASH ONLY, MEET IN PUBLIC PLACE SUCH AS STARBUCKS, and not a penny less than $X. Then they get the hint.

The going rate for the 64gb 3g+wifi in socal is $600-700. Mostly around $700 but those are usually in the box brand new. It would depend on your warranty and the age and condition of the ipad but i'd say with the extras, you can probably get $600. Just be patient. But then again, news about the ipad2 will hit the general public fast. There are already people listing with apple refurb links on CL.

haha... yeah that's the only turn off to CL but with the amount of stuff I've sold on their site, it's beyond one of the best inventions on the net. As I'm sure you can attest to as well...

Hmm I was offered 64gb, wifi only with apple case in very good condition by the seller himself.. (i put up wtb ad)

600 might be good, especially with all the cases but remember, case prices drop by ~75% once new gen comes out and no longer fits them

cases help you sell, but those are usually not what you can 'charge' people for

docks, keyboard and official accessories (such as av cable, camera connector, etc.) are more 'chargeable' extras

Apple resale is amazing.

If your dumb enough to buy at that price then that's your own fault.

I listed mine for $400 and already got an email for it. I think thats fair.

The REAL clowns are those who are judging others sales.:p

The free market will rule and there IS a buyer for every item.:)

As soon as I find someone selling one for $250 on CL I'm jumping on it. Got some custom projects for them. I might just get the iPad2 for my all around use.

It's caused by this thing called money that most people have to actually work to obtain. It's super handy because it can buy things like food, gas, education, oh, and yes, upgrades to buy new toys like the iPad2. I'm planning on having a bank vault full of the stuff one day by not spending too foolishly like by having ultra portable devices (with an obsolete half-life of swiss cheese) in my garage b/c I'm too damn lazy to fetch the one I have inside the house.

Funny, we had this same discussion in the office yesterday.

I checked CL because my wife would like a 16G wifi first gen, and I assumed I could find one for 250-300 with people trying to unload.

WOW was *I* in for a surprise. People are morons. Cheapest one listed was $350.

I can see the $250 price point coming pretty soon. I just ordered "like new" 16gb wifi off of Amazon for $275.

Way to be judgemental.

Craigslist is an environment where it's pretty standard for the buyer & seller to negotiate a price somewhat lower than the asking price.

Savvy craigslist buyers would make an offer on those $350 listings to see how flexible the sellers are. What's the worst that happens, they say no? Or perhaps one of them makes a post here on MR bitching about lowballers? BFD.

The truly low priced sellers won't stay posted long; CL has lots of bargain hunters, you've got to be quick if you find a true bargain posted.

I love the judgemental comments in here.

CL is pure capitalism. If an item is sold, the price was right. Now one could argue if the seller took a hit or the buyer overpaid. However, if both parties in the transaction are happy, no one outside said transaction has a dog in the fight and should shut up.

Are you SURE that "they" are the moron or could it be . . . . .
