Just saw this posted on CL. For some reason, people really feel the need to go all out and try and inform others of the recent change. I don't know how to feel about this... except laugh.

Its called being a good semaritan. This is why you sell before they announce the new one.
True. Those posts that inform others of updates get flagged anyway cause a) people don't like it b) they don't serve any purpose other than informational. It's not a listing. so it's violation of rules

I think some of the bargain hunters are expecting too much.
In Canada, Apple is now selling the 32gb Wi-Fi model for $519 (so about $580 after tax). I have mine up on CL right now for $450, and all I'm getting is offers for $300. Even when I am throwing in a free Apple case. Seriously?
Actually, I think prices for 1st gen iPads will stabilize upward a bit once Apple sells through their clearance stock. Here in Canada, I expect that to happen by March 25th (international launch date). Right now there are probably some panicked sellers, and a few people will get great bargains.

Not when a refurb is going for $350. I would offer what Gazelle offers at most.
People can ask whatever they like but the value has been dramatically reduced. Just like last week with MBP updates people are trying to sell their 2010 15" i5 for like $2500 all over my local Craigslist. Ah, capitalism.
If he was referring to my post, I mentioned that I have a 32gb and a case. I'd say $350 is even below the minimum I would take. $400 maybe. In the Canadian refurb store, you'd pay $479 + tax and still have to buy a case. The warranty isn't that big a deal, since mine still has 11 months of warranty left and is in mint condition.

I'm selling my 3G 16Gb for just a bit less than apple 500$ a bit much but if a buy wants it I'll go lower, CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT WHITE IPAD!!!
I just saw an ad on CL for a 16GB wifi iPad for...$500. Now that's just ridiculous.

well im glad people are still able to get $400 for the base models. The iPad 1 will still be an awesome addition to any home.

I agree. $400 to try before you buy + a $60 case is pretty fair. plus you can probably get one the day you decide to buy one vs. waiting for the mail.
I figured the base models would all be $250 on criagslist by now. But hey, if you can get more you should.
I am dying without my iPad. I had not idea just how much it meant to me until I was without it.
you may think it's funny, but they're probably going to succeed in pwning off their iPads on unsuspecting buyers.
I posted my like new, 5 month 64GB+3G with 2 cases and all original stuff for $629 and it was flagged and removed twice for a high price. I think that is ridiculous but the jerks on the CL help board told me I should sell it for $350. Who the he'll do these people think they are?

It's pretty sad what they are offering now on first gen iPads. But it seems like that's what the going market rate is. The value won't increase with time either.

They will continually decrease over time and badly
