I think he meant to say "intimate objections."

...As in the answer Intuit has been giving Mac users who want to see some parity or compatibility with the Windows versions of Quickbooks... "Go F yourselves!"

Now THAT is an intimate objection.

Wow MR is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for "news" these days. Unless the thought is an Apple board member praising Google Glass will get some clicks.

Umm.. This is the biggest ACTUAL news I've seen for a while..! Previously, there was only a single anonymous claim that "100 people at Apple are working on a watch", now we have an actual Apple board member all but confirming the work on said product. If he mentioned a competitor's "intimate" product with praise, then mentioned a new category in the same breath.. does anybody here NOT think Apple is working on said product..??

I couldn't think of anything worse than wearing a watch or wearing glasses with a screen. Small is useless what we need is a bigger iPad and a wider iPhone. Thinner is hopeless as its harder to hold. Like the iPhone 5 is getting too thin I wish my iPhone 5 was as thick as my 4s was.

I hate the idea of a watch. Maybe because I just hate wearing watches. But unless it turns my arm into a touch screen then it's too small a screen for me.

I completely misinterpreted the meaning of "intimate objects".

I just don't really see it though; for all the cool factor something like Google Glass has, it's just about the last thing I'd actually want to own. Social media is fine, but only when it suits me, being constantly interrupted is the exact opposite of what I want (and the opposite of what anyone should want). Phones are fine because if I want to ignore it I can just turn off the alerts I don't need right away and put it in my pocket, but wearing a HUD at all times puts the technology in charge of you, rather than the other way around. I know people practically live on twitter as it is, but I don't think that something that makes such services integral to your life is a good thing, and I think it's more likely to get people to wake up to just how anti-social social media is making people (and this from an extremely introverted person).

Yeah, he should be really worried about Intuit.

(Disclaimer: I work for Intuit. Was at this town hall meeting in person, too.)

Yes...he should be worried. Intuit has totally missed Apple's major growth in the market. The support of the Mac platform is a joke. He hasn't come close to maximizing Intuit's place in the market. They have stopped innovating and it will cost them dearly in the future.

The fact that he's on Apple's board is laughable.

This is a nasty little thread.

The best one going...but nasty!!:eek::D

IBM has a number of patents on automatic masturbators. No joke.

I was just teasing.

I have been treating sexual dysfunction for many, many years...so I'm aware of the various toys out there. I was just using a phrase that appears frequently on MR...sorry if I was unclear!!

I think these 'wearable computing' devices are getting hyped too much even before the products are shipping.

There might be some future in them, but I don't think people should expect too much. In the end, the devices have to be really functional to be succesful, and I think that can be a stretch.

I mean, Google Maps on your glasses is nice and all, but it seems like a niche. A watch is a perfect device for displaying the time, but for anything other than that it might become clumsy.

I don't think we should expect glasses and watches to become 'the next revolution', but more like an addition to the current smartphone. They're main advantage is that they're closer to you, you're already wearing you're glasses and your watch is just one look away, thus eliminating the 'getting your phone out of your pocket'-interaction which can become tiresome. This means they're perfect for serving as a second display along with some minimalistic control options. But the phone should be the hub.
