My my, how i loved this phone. The first phone i could actually browse the web with and the first one i would actually listen music on.

I had it for a quite some time, skipping the 3G and the 3GS. It got some bumps and scratches when i finally replaced it with the iPhone 4.

Beautiful.

Yup, brings back memories. Now I just use my original iPhone as an alarm clock in the morning lol. Still great sitting in it's dock.

Here's my original iPhone. It is banged up, power button doesn't work, small crack in the screen, and the bottom half of the screen doesn't work, but it still turns on somehow. Lol

I remember first time I held one of a friend of mine who had bought it in the states and then had it jailbroken. (Couldn't be used outside the US). I felt any other phone was a 19th century lamp compared to any actual flashlight.

I've been rocking my first gen on 3.1.3 for about two months now exclusively after selling my 4S. The back of my phone is somewhat worn out and I have had to do a bunch of internal surgery on it over the past couple of years but it's still kicking. My 5 is scheduled to arrive today so this will be going back into semi-retirement tonight. I don't ever fully put it away I leave it on wifi and play with it every couple of days to keep it somewhat active.

Like I saw somebody else say, I've never had a screen protector on this phone and I don't have a single scratch or blemish on the front. The phone does get frustratingly slow at times. I have virtually no apps on it (and couldn't if I tried), no music, and maybe only 30 pics but it will still sometimes bog down/freeze so much that I can't even answer an incoming phone call. I have to restart it several times a day.

The crazy thing is that even on EDGE speeds you get used to it. I still browse as I normally would (albeit slower), but I have to use the mobile web versions of apps instead of the actual app since this phone isn't supported (Twitter, Facebook, etc). In fact I'm posting this from the phone! I only get about 3-4 hours of usage time total even with a new battery - granted though I rarely talk on the phone so that's mostly web/data usage. Really, the biggest thing that's lacking is no MMS and the camera is really bad in anything except bright daylight.

And, oddly, I have noticed that my wifi signal on this phone is much much stronger than my 4 and 4S were.

While in line to purchase the 5, I was talking to the guy behind me about cellphones from the early 90's and he got a call with the familiar "marimba" ringtone and out comes "the original". Immediately he became the center of attention. Everyone was like, oooo and aaahhh! So much so that after handling his phone for a bit, some of them forgot what they were there for and just left the line. One guy said "hey, when's that one coming out?"
I think ima trade my 5 to my mom so she can give me back my 2g...MOM!

Pretty good price I wonder if its an apple refurb? Apple charges $79 to swap them out.

Nice find! Looking at this, it's really amazing how chunky the early designs were. I know, component miniaturization happens quickly. I have a 3G that my daughter uses, and last night it was on the table next to my 5, and it just looked so thick in comparison.

I was rather taken aback when I realized that my iPhone 5 is thinner than the 2nd gen iPod touch I used to have. I remember thinking how awesome (and impossible) it would be if they could make the iPhone as thin as the iPod touch...and now we're here. :)

Great find. I sold all my previous iPhones...My original was still in pristine condition but it was time to move on.

Yeah I waited in line for 3 hours outside of ATT corp store in California on June 29th 2007 for original iPhone. Paid $600 for the 8GB model.

When Apple dropped price a couple of months later to $400 I was annoyed but happy once they gave us a $100 credit.

Than found 3 iPhone 8GB refurb models at ATT corp retail stores in Jan 2008 when they were selling them for a bargin price of $250.

I use my first gen iPhone as an alarm clock as well...still love it.

I use mine as a alarm clock too. I also use it as a iPod in my car.

I went from the Original iPhone to the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5. The Original was a great phone and had a good camera too.

This reminds me of how people would get a Original iPhone and sign up for the unlimited data plan that was not offered by At&T but some computer glitch would let you do it anyway. Then people would move the unlimited data plan to another iPhone.

That is indeed awesome. I forget what happened to mine. I think I sold it here or something like that.

Great phone. I remember the first time I tried one I was so impressed with it. The fact you could just use your fingers on it instead of a pen made it seem so far ahead of everything else on the market.

What data plan do you get if u connect it to at&t postpaid?

It's been a year or so since I ran into this, but last time I checked at&t was still honoring the unlimited data plan + 200 SMS messages for $20. I'm not sure if that's a contractual obligation with Apple or what, but there was also talk of using the 1st gen iPhones as a loophole to obtain a new at&t unlimited data plan.

I'd love to get an update if anyone else has done this more recently . . .

I was trying to remember the complaints people had on this one?

No 3rd party applications was a pretty big complaint. And I remember complaints about the auto correcting keyboard and also smudging fingerprints on the screen. Apple fixed all of this stuff over the years.

nvm

Cool! I still have mine. The one I have is in like excellent condition except I brushed the bezel so it's no longer glossy metal.
