Here's mine. Still in excellent condition, I can't believe how long the battery lasts on it after five years. I still have my iPhone, iPhone 3GS, my 4S and now my 5 is added to the collection.

What a beauty. I wish I were a crafty engineer so I could customize an old 2G with a retina display or if I were really good I would stuff an entire 4S into it.

That's impossible. All the connections etc. are different.

So, anyone still on iOS 1.X?

I don't think the original checks with Apple when changing iOS so I believe you can down/up-grade as much as you wish.

Got my wife a data plan using the the first iPhone. Then stuck her sim in my old 3GS. Worked for two months before she got the dreaded, we've upgrade you to a compatible phone plan.

She got the unlimited 3G plan automatically.

I don't remember when this was, but I don't think it was that long ago.

Phone is still being used everyday. In a protective case. The kids's iPod. :)

The original was the only one I didn't need to have swapped out for one reason or another. That thing sure was made well.

hey dont be fooled.

There are multiple sellers that sell Non-OEM first gen iphone parts, then people buy them and assemble themselves and sell for iphone prices. ESPECIALLY 1st gen iphones.

However for your $35 dollar purchase, seems about right for a "slapped" together iphone.

experience: I've purchased a couple myself

Awesome. It brings back memories of Steve's groundbreaking presentation where he was demonstrating all the features.
Even watching it in 2012, one can still appreciate just how revolutionary that event and the first iPhone was.

In fact, I think i'll watch the presentation now. :)

I still have my original 8GB. It's got a zagg cover on it which has faded and looks ******, but I know under the cover the phone will look immaculate if I ever peel it off. Physical lock button no longer works, and it has some weird sync issues if I ever plug it into my mac. Doesn't really matter as now it sits in a music cradle in my bathroom and serves as a Pandora player while I get ready in the AM. Battery won't hold a charge much more then an hour anymore but in it's new life that doesn't matter since the cradle keeps it charged. Still have all the original packaging for it also. :)
My 3G is in the kitchen doing the same on another cradle and my 4 now lives in my car as a permanent iPod hooked to my stereo.
The nice fact that old iPhones can serve as iPod Touches once retired is great. Also when I inevitably break or lose my 5 sometime in the next 2 years I can downgrade while waiting for the new phone to be released. Every time I've lost or broken my iPhone it's been about a month before the new one comes out. Every. Damn. Time. (3 times so far.)

So the 2G loophole to get unlimited maybe still works? Hot dog!
