The surface area of the a smartphone's power button is too narrow to scan almost all of a finger tip.The only place where the fingerprint scanner makes sense is the POWER BUTTON. You press to turn it on and it scans your fingerprint at the same time to unlock.
Only Sony does this and Samsung did it ONCE with the S10e. Every other phone manufacturer has been a moron about it.
False. The surface area of the a smartphone's power button is too narrow to scan almost all of a finger tip.
don’t forget the camera bumpTouch ID, USB C and Headphone Jack are the most emotional pain points for Power Users.
I wonder if an iPhone exists with all 3 in another timeline of Apple multiverse.
In fact the Macbooks have all 3 but not even an iPad has them.
It would be too narrow to provide a more robust Touch ID implementation.False.
As I said, Sony has it on their phones. Samsung had it on the S10e. There's no reason why Apple couldnt do it the RIGHT WAY too.
Wish the power buttons on iPhones had TouchID built-in.
Preach on, brother (or sister - I don't know your gender)!!!One difference between Steve Jobs and Tim Cook. Steve Jobs, when realizing he'd made a mistake, would go out of his way to not only fix a problem, but fix it better. Tim Cook just doubles down on the same non-working solution that he owns.
Just admit Face ID doesn't work well in a Post COVID world now with Mask Mandates and SOLVE the problem at hand rather being stubborn in your original idea. The paradigm has shifted. Only Tim Cook has resisted adapting. Touch ID is not ancient tech. We didn't ditch the wheel when planes were invented. I actually love the idea of the the TouchID in the Apple logo.
LOL, whatever. Do you work for Apple or something? Why are you pretending to know that Apple couldn't implement Touch ID into the power button? It would be too narrow to provide a more robust Touch ID implementation.
I will assume you're 13yo by the way you reply.LOL, whatever. Do you work for Apple or something? Why are you pretending to know that Apple couldn't implement Touch ID into the power button?
I guess you haven't seen the news about what's included in the iOS 15.4 betas: Testing iOS 15.4's New Face ID With a Mask FeatureOne difference between Steve Jobs and Tim Cook. Even if it’s not a durable shock-resistant case, it wouldn’t even read through a paper thin case because physical contact is required. With MagSafe here and likely to stay, a back reader is pretty far out of the equation.Except for people who keep their phones in durable shock-resistant cases, like the Otterbox Defender case.
Machining most likely.Just curious, is there any reason for the wavy inner surface of the shell?
Is that a valid reason to make a choice? "If Android does it, we won't do it, even if it works better." ;-)Yeah I'm not surprised Apple went with FaceID instead. This feels too much like what an Android phone would do.
Only on an iPhone. Most (possibly all... ) Android phones the fingerprint sensor turns the phone on without needing to touch the power button. Wondering if that might not be baked into the OS because I can't think of any that don't do this. The only place where the fingerprint scanner makes sense is the POWER BUTTON. You press to turn it on and it scans your fingerprint at the same time to unlock.
