Straighten out the bills. Turn them into one bill. Bonus cards? eh. 3 business cards shouldn't be too thick. Enter business cards of colleagues into your phone and throw them out, receipts go home, paper? etc? Spare keys? Paper cutter/knife/bottle/box opener? Do you live in Alaska? :p

How many times do people say, hey man! can you cut this paper off of this box before opening it, it has a beer i need in it. Thanks do you mind opening this beer for me? Appreciate it. Do you happen to have a piece of paper so I can write you a thank you note? Thanks. Let me get your business card so I can take you to lunch sometime.

;)

3 business cards are never enough
And the multi function tool comes in handy as I drink beverages with caps and don't have a bottle opener in my office or car

Once you have one you cant live without it. Kind of like pocket knives and multis

I have a Burberry Brit Check 6 credit card wallet that I absolutely love! I've had it for almost 4 years now and it looks good as ever (even after I lost it and it sat in the snow for 3 months )

They only make the 8 credit card one now.

I highly recommend it.

EDIT: Wow, just realized this is a thread from May 2008!

A wallet should not contain more than your ID, credit cards and a FEW (money) bills. Receipts from 2009 belong at home in a file.

I was flipping through my wallet while reading this thread and dredged this out of a deep recess...I swear I never keep receipts in there this one just got lost! :p

I've been through several leather wallets, decided to switch to a tough nylon wallet with velcro closure and came across Rainbow of California. They apparently make a lot of military stuff. I went with the "California Wallet" for a mere $7.50:

I think the crux of the matter is that a wallet can never be a purse.

Care must be taken to select which is to be carried in it, and which is not.

For me, I purchased a cheap little "book" from the Dollar store to hold my plastic.

I carry driver's license, heath card, memberships cards, etc, in that. It's in my left-front pocket, and prevents the loss of all my identification if some miscreant takes my wallet.

My wallet, in my right-front pocket, has my cash, credit/debit cards, etc. Things that I can easily cancel, without worry about taking forever to reclaim my identity.

I love my stainless steel wallet from Stewart/Stand. The best part is its' lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. you can also pick it up from Hammacher if you want an extra lifetime warranty (but pay a little extra). I have had to send my original version back in for replacement, as it was before the fold was made with steel-like nylon--this was after a year or 2, so stewart/stand stands by their warranty.

i think, ussually the most favored wallet for men is bifold category.
then you can choose your design model, the thinnest / slim wallet is the bestbuy.

What wallet I use depends on where I am. In Europe, I use elegant, classic Italian leather ones (and I like soft leather) - I have and a few from the Bridge company of Tuscany; I have also had a few lovely leather wallets that I bought in Afghanistan, where they have long had an excellent leather making tradition.

For some of the countries I work in, I have used wallets from the US company Saddleback - they are indestructible, and develop a very nice patina with age - I love their trifold wallet. However, they are not thin, and not massively comfortable.

Likewise, the Colonel Littleton company (also from the US) makes some lovely leather goods, among them some tasteful and well made wallets.

I've always been a budget wallet affictiinato and these type wallets have served me well over the years holding up better than leather. Amazon has them. However, it's just come to my attention that RFID shielding is a quality you want in your wallet although honestly I don't know how much at risk the average wallet is (based on cards carried) to this type of intrusion. And I wanted a change of pace from carrying nylon wallets so I ordered this Knox Wallet, leather, 10 card slots, RFID protected, reasonably priced, and I'll just have to see how it holds up. :)

I almost bought this women's credit card holder, but look at zippers as something that will break, shortening the life of the accessory. :)

this is a really old thread, almost 10 years old.

But the topic of a good wallet (or purse) is timeless. As are questions about where they can be found and purchased, and who might manufacture such a thing. (Italian companies make good ones, as does any country or culture with a decent leather making tradition).

After all, a special class of skilful thief went by the name of "cut-purse" -in the 15th and 16th centuries, as, before the invention of pockets (which were made for women's garments first), a man's purse (as it was referred to at the time) hung (by lanyards, loops, threads, thongs, sometimes made from leather) from his belt.

I have the same leather Ralph Lauren wallet for 20years now. If I am going to buy another one, I wouldn't mind spending $100 for a quality one.
