Question,... I bought an iPhone 6 from a relative, knowing it had a year left on contract, expecting to keep it in his name and make $105.00 a month payments. Unfortunately, his account is actually suspended, $500.00 to get it re-activated.

If I unlock this phone with a paid service, will AT&T be able to prevent me from using T-mobile? Or do I now own an expensive iPod.

P.s. I checked on apple site to verify it was not "blacklisted" if that matters.

Cant say if AT&T will prevent you or not, I have seen a iPhone that was blacklisted on other networks except AT&T's own, I think they do that to keep you using their service instead regardless you use it on the same plan / account or not.

and Blacklist status with other carrier's is unrelated to unlocking, so even a Unlocked phone can be blacklisted with some carriers and work on others.

Lastly, there is no way for ANYONE to check on Apple site if the phone is blacklisted or not....so I'm not sure where you got that assumption from.

I read this article http://mashable.com/2014/10/02/activation-lock-iphone/
And followed the link to an iCloud site, entered the Imei and received notice it was locked.

I guess I misunderstood.

Yea that is simply telling you if someone (could be you if you already have the phone and are using it) has their iCloud account signed in under Settings -- iCloud.

It cannot and will not tell you if your device has its IMEI Blacklisted by a carrier.

I find this company MyUnlockService on the net. Please if know some more for this Unlock iPhone service to replay me? Is need for me more experiences to know for this service before use to Unlock my iPhone 6 locked on AT&T network.

If some know other good service please to replay me. Thanks

I've been using Samunlocks for quiet some time now, very satisfied customer to date. There are others that people use as well but never heard of the one you talked about.

Wow... $12 for an express (24 hr or less) unlock on my AT&T 6 Plus?

I couldn't type my PayPal credentials in fast enough. :D

Very helpful, especially considering how I want to switch to T-Mobile as soon as I have enough cash to pay off my AT&T Next Installments. Now I can test T-Mobile's network on something other than my iPad.

They have LTE in my town (small town Ohio), but there's only two (2) cell towers covering the entire town - one at the far north side of town, and the other at the far south side. That makes me nervous. Considering it's not low-band frequency, signal on my iPad and S4 fluctuates quite frequently. However, I don't leave town all that often, and they've got LTE all the way up Interstate 75 to Toledo and into Michigan, and south all the way to Kentucky. Plus I-80/I-90 (OH Turnpike) is completely LTE except for a few small spots of EDGE and 3G when approaching Indiana.

Plus now I can cross the Ambassador Bridge and not worry about spending $80 on TELUS Prepaid so I'm not disconnected while in the land of Maple Syrup and Polar Bears! ;)

Good enough for me, plus I can always go back to Dumb & Dumber (as Legere calls them) if it doesn't work.

Has anyone used a 3rd party service lately to unlock their phone? If so, which one and how was your experience?

I recently tried theofficialunlocks services for new gen iPhone's which took them almost 7 biz days.
Their customer support is very good as mostly got all query replies within 24 hours as mentioned on their website.

Was your phone blacklisted or lost/stolen? Because I had Samunlocks unlock my in contract device within 24 hours despite AT&T rejecting the request numerous times.

I purchased an iPhone 6s on ebay that is still under ATT contract. Checking unlocking services range in about $100. Are there any cheaper methods? Or I should return the phone since not all the installment fees are paid? I don't want a blacklisted phone

How did the seller list it on EBay? If it was listed as paid off or unlocked I would return it.

It was listed as ATT but when I contacted the seller via message, and asked: is this unlocked? He replied: Yes .. But after receiving the handheld it was not unlocked and he told me it was listed as ATT phone. Idk, I'm waiting on ebay to escalate on Tuesday.

But the issue is I'm in south america right now for another 2 months so I have to pay intl. shipping to return and possible pay extra for a new phone. Anyway if the seller stops paying the installments fees will the phone be blacklisted?
What service could you recommend I would like to pay no more than $50 but seems they are all around $100

That is a tough call, I would want to return it if he told you it was unlocked before you bought it he clearly lied (maybe doesn't know what unlocked is). Now you are stuck with a phone I assume you planned on using in South America. I think eBay will side with you if you prove he told you it was unlocked. I am not sure what good 3rd party service unlocking company are out there now, maybe swift unlocks.

Thanks for the reply, do you think if I keep it and the previous owner stops paying will the phone be blacklisted?

Anyone have any recent experience with swift unlocks? Bought a sprint locked 6s that in trying to get unlocked for att. Not sure if it's a scam site or not since most of the replies here are over 1 year old...

we are legit. dont worry. we can do sprints no problem as well as AT&T (although AT&T takes 2-4 weeks at moment)

Submit an unlock request as a non-AT&T Mobility customer:

https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/

Many times that is all it takes to get the device unlocked.

Or I should return the phone since not all the installment fees are paid? I don't want a blacklisted phone
OK there are 2 different things - 1 is a phone that was purchased subsidized on 2 year contract. The other is a phone that is still being financed. If the phone was purchased subsidized on 2 year contract, you can submit an unlock request as a non-AT&T Mobility customer through the above link and see if they will unlock it for you.

If the device is still being financed, I would absolutely return it for a refund. If the person stops paying, the device can be blacklisted. No way would I buy a used phone that someone else is still financing. They need to pay it off before they sell it.

The Sprint iPhone 6s don't have AT&T's Band 30. If possible, I would return it and buy an AT&T or SIM free model.

Got a 6s Plus with AT&T Next plan. Tryna get it unlocked asap.

AT&T denied, well tho, attunlocker.us couldn't get it done. Unlock2go is promising they can unlock it. But their website looks so old and fishy.

Does anyone have a comment about unlock2go? Or, any other company that can unlock an iPhone under contract?

Thanks guys, any help is appreciated.
