Lossless support (which isnt even that true tbh) on one device. But Apple supposedly confirmed to Bloomberg that there is something different with the USB-C Airpods to where they will only have lossless and not the other model.

I am aware, but it’s good enough to not matter. And it’s existed for well more than a decade on far inferior hardware.ATPX is not lossless
That's idiotic, but you really can't even tell the difference between lossless and high quality lossy audio on the AirPods Pro 2. So for 99.999% of people, it won't make a difference.
I sent an email to Apple asking the same question. I don't expect them to write back, but if they do I will share their response. It's really stupid to expect the average consumer to call them "AirPods Pro 2 with USB C port," and I am certain there are many, many units of the 2022 model still on shelves. What the heck is Apple doing? Just call them AirPod Pro 3 and be done with it. I can fully understand that the new AirPods Pro have a new charging port and capabilities but this is nonsense. Apple seem to be losing the story here. Help us to understand. My current AirPods Pro do not have a USB C charging port or lossless capability. I understand but the new ones should be called by a different model name. Yikes, this is basic marketing.
But what you think is “close enough” does not make it CD quality…We've been over this. It's called aptX and it's close enough to CD quality that it's simply pathetic Apple has taken this long to catch up.
Do you know this for sure? What are your sources?
Did you get a pair each and disassembled them?
Do you even have the knowledge to understand what you're seeing in case you disassembled the Pods?
Please advise.
Musicians who need top quality and minimal latency are going to use a reliable old method known as wires. But what you think is “close enough” does not make it CD quality…
And what Apple is doing has a LOT more potential down the road, particularly for musicians who need higher quality and usable latency… neither of which aptX delivers…
Don’t get me wrong, improvements are good and this sucks for those who bought the Pro 2 with lightning. But let’s be real, no one will be able to tell the difference in audio quality anyway.
Musicians, many of whom are sick of having been tethered to wires for years, are paying big dollars for emerging low latency, wireless, digital headphones from Yamaha and Roland…Musicians who need top quality and minimal latency are going to use a reliable old method known as wires.
And this is how Apple make money 🤣If you are buying the AR helmet, you won’t have any problem spending a tiny bit more.
A serious pro studio that actually means business will never trust a new and unproven wireless connection over an inexpensive and guaranteed-to-work cable.Musicians, many of whom are sick of having been tethered to wires for years, are paying big dollars for emerging low latency, wireless, digital headphones from Yamaha and Roland…
Considering many musicians use Apple’s software it would be of great value for them to be able to have a low-latency, high quality solution that avoids the pitfalls that make Bluetooth and WiFi unusable…
For $3500 i would hope Apple would put some effort in to the audio!I’m genuinely curious to know how the default speakers on the AVP sound. I wouldn’t expect it to be spectacular, but shouldn’t they at least be semi-decent?
Spoken by someone who obviously isn’t a musician, I’m out…A serious pro studio that actually means business will never trust a new and unproven wireless connection over an inexpensive and guaranteed-to-work cable.
And any musician that isn’t a big time pro won’t have the money for Apple’s foolery.
Agreed, but it’s my understanding that they don’t actually sit in your ears, and instead they are very near your ears, so you can still hear your surroundings. So that leaves room for separate noise canceling earbuds/headphones if you want to increase your immersion. For $3500 i would hope Apple would put some effort in to the audio!
