People can do so much with their phones now, and the rest of the industry has graciously stayed away from screens that are less than 4" diagonal. All I need is an iPhone 5 or whatever with a 4.3" edge to edge screen on Sprint and I am sold.

Anything less and it's really just another update that shouldn't have taken so long.

And I am just the opposite. I am hoping for a 3.7 inch screen, nothing larger than a 4 inch. After that it's just too large to carry in a pocket, and I hate carrying on my hip or resorting to a "man bag." :)

Not that I don't particularly agree with you but that's kind of the whole idea of having a comment section ... for a rumor. Just because no one has solid facts doesn't mean they aren't knowledgeable with Apple's history to support why they have an opinion of the rumor. I'm not saying every comment here doesn't fall under your "comical to watch" tyrant but that doesn't mean everyone should feel bad for expressing their thoughts. If you aren't up to reading more opinion-based responses I feel you might be at the wrong place for news.

I have nothing against opinions themselves, but people are using them against each other as if they WERE facts. That's what I was mainly concerned with. Nobody knows, so I don't know why people are getting bent outta shape when someone has an opinion that differs from their own.

Every single rumor that has leaked for the iPhone5 shows that it will be nearly identical to the 4, so much so in fact, that people were confused and began to assume that there would be two separate phones released. "Surely there will be an iPhone released with more impressive technical specs, so these specs must be for an iPhone4S... right?"

Wrong. What we are seeing here is that the iPhone5 will be released as a single new phone with negligible increases in features/upgrades. When has an iPhone been released that has really done anything but that?

Now don't get me wrong. There will definitely be a newer/better iPhone released shortly after the iPhone5. It will probably be 4g capable, have more ram and a faster/better cpu. These are features that Apple will be forced to finally include in order to keep up with competing technologies.

But it will not be in the phone to be announced on Oct 4th.

Why are you trying to convince everyone?

Why are you trying to convince everyone?

Because after reading through multiple posts/threads on this topic, people seem wildly confused as to what the iPhone5 is going to be when the evidence is right there in front of them. Save your money for the next NEXT iPhone or Galaxy S2 or Nexus, etc. All will be better than this next Apple offering.

I'm all for the redesign. I have a 4, and my wife has the 3Gs, and I have to say it does feel better in the hand.

As much as I'd love to see a redesign Apple's track record with the iPhone says otherwise. The first 3 phones looked identical just with updated internal specs... Not denying my WANT of a new design, but history repeats itself.

At 3.7" there's not much point in making it larger at all. Apple would be better off just keeping the current model with the larger bezel.

I don't know how big most people's pockets are, but my fat daddy EVO fits in mine just fine, and the screen on that is becoming normal with 4.5" and 4.7" AMOLED models starting to roll out.

The iPhone really needs a 4" --> 4.3" screen to compete.
