Finished the season last night
Most of my original thoughts still pertain

However, I have to say looking back, I really started to enjoy it as I got more invested in the characters
Some parts dragged on a little too much, but overall they kept the pace fairly strong
The one crisis after another was a bit much, but it was meant to be that way

Dr. Smith is really a good character and is convincing as the ultimate manipulator
I started out liking Maureen and not John, but by the end, I had totally flipped them
Penny is a nice contrast to the other characters
I hope they will let Will have a stronger role as a 'problem solving smart kid' now
Judy and Don have a fairly good chemistry working now

I'm looking forward to a season 2 now

i find penny annoying and her character/humor way too predictable.
granted, they are all that way, but she bothers me the most.
originally i was hyped for this but now i can't say that i'll be too bothered to watch the next season.

I’ve not read through all the replies as I’m only watched the first 2 episodes.

The series appears to be filmed on location which I like along with realistic gear and top notch CGI. The first episode was a little rough, I have a hard time believing they went though this training program, that the kids seem to act impetously especially Judy who dives in the water to retrieve a battery from the ship and you know what happens. Anyway, the second episode settled down a little, and I am acclimating. :p The robot is cool. Dr. smith or whatever her real name is, is still a rat. That dynamic is a plus, I’ll keep watching. Looking forward to her and Don West meeting up with each other again. :)

I just finished watching the first season. I liked it more as it progressed because I got further invested in the characters. I'll certainly keep watching if there's a second season, though I'm getting tired of keeping 10 episode seasons of multiple shows straight. (As of today, I don't think that Netflix has said whether LIS is renewed.)

A few other comments with mild spoilers:
1. As others have said, the barrage of how-can-they-get-out-of-this-one situations is a bit much, especially when you know that the showrunners probably aren't going to kill off a Robinson anytime soon. One of the things I like about Game of Thrones is the willingness to have major characters die.

2. Just how fast is the Resolute traveling? IIRC, Maureen said something about 260,000 MPH back on Earth. At that velocity, it would take around 11,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri. So they have to be moving much closer to light speed, which makes for interesting timeline differences between the people who are already there and those who come later.

3. The robot clearly understands a good bit of English and can produce sounds. So why is his vocabulary limited to "Danger (name of master)?"

he he he

yeah i've really enjoyed this one.

parker posey/dr smith he he he.

Just finished episode 7 and by god, Parker Posey's character..! Every time I see her now, I hope her character meets a rather painful death. Just her mere presents on the screen gets my blood boiling. She has done an outstanding job of making her character so hate-able and detestable, well played Parker Posey, well played.

yup.

Just finished the series. Not to bad, but there were a couple of head scratching scenes. Overall enjoyable, with the exception of Dr. Smith. That character is one of the worst I have seen on a show or in a movie. By god she is one terrible, manipulative, and just flat out evil. She did her job well!

I agree, except for Dr. Smith not being enjoyable. While it's easier to connect with characters who are likable, well-played villains are an asset, even if it's hard to watch them be evil to others. I think that Dr. Smith does that very effectively. There were a couple of times when I was fooled into thinking that she was about to unveil her deepest secret and redeem herself, when she did something awful.

Yes, please. Ran home many of days just to watch this on TV back in the day.

Finally watched the season. (Thank goodness for summer!)

I loved it. I was thrilled that they not only kept the original theme music, but they also kept the design of the Jupiter 2. I adore this sassy Penny!

Dr. Smith as a woman works well. But man is this one a sociopath! The original had us laughing, but they've shifted the comedy to Don.

Can't wait for the next season.

Well, I got distracted with this series, restarted and up to episode 4. I’m liking it. Dr. Smith is a real live wire, malevolent sociopath whose presence maintains a state of tension, wondering what monkey wrench she will throw and harm she will do next.

You will enjoy it

Season 2 in 2 weeks, Netflix!

Yeah, the whole season will be released on Christmas day. Looks like maybe better pacing, wider ranging adventures, S1 could've been a bit tighter, like 1-2 EPs less, and some of the writing kind of "dumbed down" what were clearly very smart characters in service of the plot. Exploring more planets, more character dynamics, make Dr. Smith earn her subterfuge, and it looks like a winner.

The scenes of the Jupiter setup as a boat are just stunning!

That makes her a great character. 😜
