I love the design, but then again maybe they will make a 3G case like the one it was found in.

The new design looks very much like something Dieter Rams could have designed for Braun way back in the days. Of course Jonathan Ive happens to be a huge fan of Dieter Rams, btw. I love 'em both.

My only concern is that the device is a little too thick.
Are there any photos of its thickness compared to the 3G(S)?

I agree. I think the outer aluminum "ring" will be unibody without the visible screws or break lines. Those are most likely just to make assembly easier for the prototype units.

What makes you think that? The current iPhone has screws on the bottom. I would expect this new one to have screws too. I think it makes it look more industrial. Plus makes it easier to work on for the techs.

Anyone with a little common sense could have figured out this phone was nearly final. They're not going to be testing prototype phones in March and make drastic changes when the product will be on store shelves a few months later. At that point the hardware is pretty much locked down in terms of engineering and design.

A product launch that deliver (a bit before release due to foolish behavior). Will definitely purchase this version. Love the design.

People, people, people. As several have already pointed out, there are already screws on the bottom of the iPhone! There have been screws on the bottom of both the 3G and the 3GS.

The iPhone 3G/3GS already has screws on the bottom!

Thank you, that is all. :)

design

The masculine design of the new iPhone - which echoes my favorite Braun designs of the 70's and 80's, is very welcome in my book. watch out droid - this thing looks like it can stop a bullet - def. a man's phone and a must have.

I think the little hole next to the jack plug has more to do with the seems than just opening an imaginary door to the battery. It could be a touch sensor which works with the sides?

Yes! Wasn't there a patent for Apple as far as squeeze/touch sensors on the phone casing? To be used for something like answering or silencing a call?

I think there will be some modifications still. It would not be like Mr. Jobs leave screws visible, the overall look is very unfinished and to me very "Un Apple".

You do realize that the current and previous generation iPhones both had "Screws Visible".

the seams.... so you're worried about the seams?

if they stay, i'd regard them as something to play with your fingers and fingernails. like these sharp edges on the sides of the central notch of the aluminum macbooks

I can't wait to see if Steve says anything before the big design unveil in his June keynote.

Would be funny if he cracked a joke at the keynote..... you've seen the inside, now let me show you what it can do.

Tbh, I'm sick of the damn thing. I like the design, but will still end up with an Incredible because I'm on Verizon. That and I like the Sense interface (hides).

Jonathan Ive dead?

Sorry, but is Jonathan Ive dead? This iPhone has more angles (edges) than die ipod, imac and all the pro's together. have you see the transition from the glas too the aluminium / ceramic?!?!

This is Jonathan Ive....

Disappointed in the screen size, but that's not a deal breaker. I like the rest of the design, but really I am more interested in what other software tweaks will come with 4.0.

At this point Gruber is acting like a babbling baby who's butthurt that he wasn't able to leak out specs from his "sources." Get over yourself. Nobody is going to go to jail, or pay damages or anything no matter how much he copy and pastes California law he saw someone else post on Macrumors. I hope the person that found it sues him for libel for calling him a "thief." Get over yourself. You're not that important you Apple plant.

Screw the screws. lol. I'd rather have more of the speaker exposed so the phone can be louder(hopefully). I swear I'm so tired of the iPhone not being as loud as other phones on the market, especially the speakerphone.

I don't care for the seams either.

So I'm not the only person who has chipped the metal by scratching at that? Phew....
