I haven't seen these discussed here yet:
http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/

This URL was flashed on screen during the Hanso ad during the second last episode.

Move the mouse around close to East. A background image will show up. Click on that spot and a window will appear, where you are are asked "do you believe? [y/N]"

"Y" will bring you to http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/

Most of the links on that page return 403 errors, but take a look at http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/pthompso/mail/
Any theories, ideas? Edit: Sorry, that's just an extended Jeep ad.

If that were the case what would be the harm in letting the new cast aways in on the secret?
More members to rebell. build an army...
Also why the experiments on the pregnants? Taking the kids away? killing some members?
Maybe they don't want everybody. Only some of them are "good". Good could mean something about character, but it could also be about their genetics. We'll have to wait to find out I guess.

Anyone seen this yet? :p

Steve

I can't get to that, it says access denied.

What is it?

EDIT: It works now. I agree with pdpfilms, they were probably just going to CG that out. I don't think that is an actual screen shot from the episode.

That HAS to be a slip. I mean, they can't get ALL shots of pristine Hawaii... maybe they were hoping to CG these out. I'll have to go back and watch this scene again.

yeah, and when did the fat guy put his beard back on?

This is as close as I could get to matching the shot from the actual episode - it is from a slightly different angle and you can't see any of the houses. I'm guessing that photograph is a production shot or another take that didn't make it into the final episode.

Stop me if you've heard this one but doesn't the guy in front with the beard look an awful lot like the guy who taught Sayid to torture?

Sorry if I'm a bit behind but the episode that aired last night here was s2e15 so we're yet to see very much with respect to the others.

If you mean the guy who captured Sayid and encouraged him to torture and betray his superiors, then yes he looks very similar, but no it definitely is not him - as we find out in the last couple of episodes. I won't spoil it any more. ;)

Cool, thanks for that.

Which bit? :p

In fantastic spoilervision:

In one of Sayid's flashbacks, around the time they catch and try to torture Henry Gale, we see that Sayid is convinced by an American Army officer to torture his superior officer to try and reveal the whereabouts of some captured American troops. The officer then drives Sayid out into the desert to release him (incidently, one of the men in the truck at the same time is Kate's father).

Then, when we see Desmond's flashback in the last couple of episodes, the guy who takes him into the hatch and then tries to run off with his boat, who Desmond ends up killing by mistake, is that same Army officer.

Typed from memory, so probably not 100% accurate, but you get the gist.

Thanks a lot Kernow. :) I remembered the first bit, but for some reason didn't pick up on the second bit. Makes sense now. Thanks.

It looks like they just film angles so that you can't see the house. If you match up the palm trees near the shore in both shots, you can see the houses are quite far out of the picture.

We don't need spoiler tags for episodes that have already aired, do we?

I thought that the guy with Desmond in the hatch was the same guy that took the fake beard off on the dock with the five losties. I assumed that Desmond didn't actually kill him when he hit his head. He ended up being saved by the Others/Hostiles after he was abandoned by Desmond.

Am I wrong?

Nope, different dudes.

I chucked it in invistext, because Chundles said they were only halfway through the series in Australia - didn't want to spoil anything for him :)

They're definitely different guys - I'll dig out a couple of pics when I get home.

Yeah, you are. I just checked the Lostpedia and they are two different actors.

We're only 15 episodes in to the second season here so I think the spoiler tags were for my benefit. I know what happens in the season but I want to try and limit my knowledge of the really minute details that really seem to make this show interesting.

Can't wait for the DVDs though, Lost is on a Thursday night here and finishes just as I walk in the door after work - sometime if we're quiet and close early I can get home for the last 20 minutes or so, I can't wait to be actually able to watch the whole season.

I could swear Anna Lucia told stories of how the others killed several castaways when the two groups met up.

Was I smoking?
No, remember, the tailies were 23 strong, and the others kept killing off members, so that only those 6 or 7 remained. You're right.

Yes...

The guy that Desmond met in the hatch was the same guy that let Sayid go in Iraq and so I'm told, is Kate's father although I don't remember that.
YES he is the same guy! An actor named Clancy Brown
http://www.clancybrown.com/
Most people know him from his evil priest role on Carnivale (Brother Justin Crowe).
Or even better known as the voice of Mr. Krabs on Spongebob.
