holy s*** my theory is semi correct! the whole plane crashing thing. does this mean we do get another plane crash?

a. why are the guys searching in the Arctic/Antarctic, not say, in Africa, or Australia, or Iceland? not that any of those places are significant either, but an Arctic/Antarctic enviroment makes a very pointed statement about something, what is it?
That could relate to the strength of the electromagnetic majiggie (since aren't the poles, magnetic?)... as well as some previous post mentioning the polar bear, and the compasses not working properly.

And let's not forget that the statue's foot only had 4 toes. :p

Can anyone direct me to a site with detailed descriptions of the episodes? All the ones I've googled are either behind by 2 or 3 episodes or just using the cryptic episode summaries from the ABC website.

Is there a decent transcript website somewhere?

wikipedia :)

thanks to wikipedia...

"The settings shift to an aircraft cabin in something resembling the Andes Mountains".

makes a lot more sense to antarctica to me, as Portugese is spoken more often in South America than in Antarctica/The Arctic to my knowledge. :D

You know you'll just end up in some hatch doing a repetitive job until you go crazy. Then you'll be know as "the red spot on the ceiling"

b. why did the hatch cover come from the sky? if the hatch exploded, which is what makes perfect sense to me, Locke, Eko, and Desmond would be dead, and i think the first two are essential characters to the series. but if it didn't explode.. how did the cover get up in the sky? the magnet would have been pulling it toward it, not in the opposite direction.
My $0.02 on question a. is that if they are in the arctic/antarctic they might be there because the magnetic poles of the earth converge at these points and the might be able to sense fluctuations from around the globe... it's weak but plausible... BTW are we sure they are Portugese? I thought they were speaking Russian, but then again I caught the last viewing of the show so it was approaching 1am when they showed that segment.

<edit> Maybe those guys had something like this </edit>

For b. Magnets can both attract and repel so it's possible that the 'explosion' was a giant magnetic pulse. This would explain the "Aurora Borealis" effect (instead of a giant fireball) and sending the hatch lid flying. ... mind you if the magnet went from attracting everything to violently repulsing everything I'd hate to be in the hatch when all that metal inside flew away from that wall!

Other things I noticed were the reference to Whitmore, and the numbers appearing when Desmond ordered coffee (i.e. needed 4 dollars for coffee, and 42K more for a boat.). What I want to know is if the heading 325 is some sort of biblical reference like book "X" chapter 3, verse 25.

Thanks to this episode I couldn't get to sleep till 2:30!http://www.keteu.org/~haunma/aurora/

Ok, so, clarification time.

It seemed to me as if they two guys in the new place (I initially thought they were speaking French, but as obviously wrong :p) were alerted when the numbers weren't pushed, or when the hatch was presumably blown up.

Also - why would Desmond be dead? I thought he may be whooshed away somewhere.. but not dead.. Desmond is an awesome character. :D

Boy.. good episodes. :D

The See you in the next life is a good sign that he isn't dead since that is what he says just before he leaves to show up again.

My money is on a secret trap door. As for Locke v Eko I think only one makes it out alive.

wow

that was awesome. i finally got around to seeing it.

i so hope desmond isnt dead, he is the best character now!

Some insights-
I do read other Lost sites and some of these are not my own ideas but picked up because I find them interesting..

The Lost island is mobile, and moves about the planet. this would explain the Polar Bear, Nigerian Drug smuggling plane etc..

When the two Ice dudes call Desmonds girlfriend its not because they picked up the islands magnetic signal but because they detected Desmonds boat beakon. Turning off the magnetic power of the island left a window for the boats signal to transmit where before it was overpowered.

more to come...

That is very good. I believe it. :)

makes sense too.. when they said something about "missing it again", remeber Desmond had been sailing around before he showed up drunk, even though he didn't find the way out, he probably came close enough to the exit for a signal to get out, at least for a lil while...

My guess: The Coldies (in the plane) will pick up Michael and Walt and return them to the island, sans boat. I don't know why, but I'm sure the Lost audience wants to see Michael some more, not just in flashbacks, and in particular so Michael can get his proper comeuppance.

Other ways to get Michael back:
The boat heads in a straight line and ends up back at the island.

Michael or Walt gets sick or injured and they have to turn back.

Can we agree that this show is the best thing to happen to TV in a long time?

I thought American Idol being over was the best thing.

But on the computer screen the two dudes were looking at, it said something about "detected a high magnetic disturbance" or something along those lines. It most definitely picked up the magnetic explosion, not the beacon.

ok i can't believe after browsing these forums everyday i've never really paid attention to this thread! i know i'm gonna get hated for this but its kinda hard for me to read 49 pages of posts! i've read the last 3-4 and i'm still wondering a few things which means i obviously havn't been paying attention to the show either...

question one... what is the hanso foundation? i went onto wikipedia, some official spin off site, read some stuff and it all sounds like they've included some real stuff from real life and put it in the show, or worked VERY hard to make it all look and sound so real. AND what is Widmore? i read something about a yellow parachute but still have no clue. AND when i went on that Hanso Foundation website some video played like a trailer or something and the guy in the window looks alot like Pen's dad.

question two... is it just me or does the girl in the pic with desmond and the girl at the end on the phone with the guyz in the plane look EXACTLY like Jack's ex? that's what i thought when i first saw Desmond with the pic but then they showed some other lady at the stadium and it completely lost ME!

and is it just me or are people really taking all this stuff a lil bit too seriously?

HEEEEEEEEELP! but if you can't or won't, then don't be harsh about it! lots of people on MR seem to get pissed off on questions, even though they havn't been reposts or stuff like that.

Magnetic Anomoly

Well the one guy said I wonder how long that has been blinking, we missed the last one.

I took that to mean that they missed the magnetic buildup when Desmond didn't put in the numbers the first time around. The one that caused the plane crash (supposedly).

The time line is confusing, because they've only been on the island for something like 60+ days (in 2004 no less). The printouts and website egghunts refer to 2006, so is this all in the past?
