I thought this initially too... everytime I would make a call, it dropped to 4G instead of LTE. Then my brain kicked in and I realized it was using the LTE bands for the call, making them unavailable for data.

Or something like that. But no, no issues with LTE here on AT&T.

To be fair, what you posted has nothing to do with the original post. Being able to run a quick speed test has nothing to do with holding a LTE signal.

That's almost true, except for the fact that in these parts I don't have a problem holding an LTE signal.

If I lived in backwoods Mississippi... well... maybe?

Weird I'm noticing similar issue on verizon iPhone 6 Los Angeles vs AT&T on iPhone 5 same area verizon has weaker signal drops off LTE. Wondering if this more wide spread is there a fix? I just added verizon line little disappointed with the experience...

I am as disgusted with the -gate crop, but don't think we should toss out a possibly useful LTE problem discussion with the -gate water :D.

In my experience the band switching is mostly a carrier issue and not a phone one. Not clear anyone's cited evidence to the contrary here. My Samsung GS4 is holding/losing LTE at the same rate as my wife's 6.

Yeah it's hard to take -gate threads seriously.

Again that has nothing to do with showing a speed test. And btw LTE issues can happen in the biggest cities in the world. It has nothing to do with living in the "backwoods".

Just the opposite for me. My 6 Plus is much better with locking into LTE than my 5S. In my house, my 5S would switch quite often from LTE to 3G. This has yet to happen with my 6 Plus since I got the phone on the 19th. I have set it to use VoLTE, and when not making calls, the signal strength for LTE at home is right around -110 dBm. When I actually make a call, the signal improves to -100 dBm. My iPhone 5S was always -110 dBm or worse.

It's probably Verizon, and not the phone. AT&T and Verizon coverage are not equal in all places. In some spots, AT&T LTE coverage will be worse. In other places, it's Verizon that doesn't match up.

If you want to verify this for yourself: Replace the Verizon SIM in your 6 with the AT&T SIM from your 5, and see if the LTE signal improves. If it does, then it's not the phone.

The only fix then, is for Verizon to improve coverage.

Anyone notice that their new iPhone 6/6 Plus NOT being able to hold an LTE signal?

I would notice that my iPhone 6 Plus would often switch to 3G.

My old iPhone 5 rarely, if ever, would switch to 3G. It almost always holds an LTE signal.

I am assuming this is a iPhone 6/6 Plus issue as the carrier and the locations I am in are constant and the only variable is the iPhone.

I have Verizon btw.

Well I'm happy to say I don't have LTE issues... which was the point of my reply. (The OP did ask if anyone else was having dropped connections and is also on Verizon) No dropped connections and 90+ DL speed, which was the point of my attachment.

For whatever reason you didn't like my response... and for that I apologize. I hope your connection gets better bro. I take it you weren't one of those that upvoted my original reply. LOL

"Also with Verizon you DO NOT have VOLTE". Fixed.

The only major carrier who currently supports VOLTE is T Mobile. AT&T will be next but not until 2015.

LTE frequently drops on me too. However, this is more to do with single stregth and battery life. Going on LTE but low signal will drain your battery fast. Also, with Verizon you have VOLTE. If your LTE drops, so does your call. That's why it switches to 3G. You don't want dropped calls so it goes to a more reliable connection. If you really need LTE, just go to settings and turn off LTE so it's on 3G and then turn it back on. It'll reconnect to LTE.

I thought Verizon and AT&T already had VoLTE. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I don't know the specifics (eg. collaboration between manufacturer and carriers, et cetera). Is it because the carriers have not yet enabled it specifically for the iPhone?
